Can't have a look at it in person, atm. Not at home, but it does look nice from the screens. It seems better for 'demo' purposes until redkit is out, though. Need to be able to edit the environment files. Don't think I'd want the whole game having the Skellige color palette.

We're still missing something. It may be done via scripts, that we don't have access to properly, yet. But, there's definitely more than those startup csv files to manipulate the environmental info.

Your also still truncating the files lol. Somebody's already mentioned they had the TOD get stuck.

Version 0.02 doesn't force files anymore. They have the same size.

yes. there are in fact a lot of *.w2l files that have specific lighting settings and load and trigger specific .env files for specific areas you can go to. there's a file specifically for the swamp area in velen, also for all caves, so basically as soon as you go into a cave or dungeon it loads this .w2l files which then loads another .env file, specific for that cave. it also uses variables like "blendIn" and "blendOut" to make a seemless switch to the new settings loaded.

KNGRSM, can you update Cutscene lighting mod so moded files would be same size as original?

yea exactly and like KNG said, there are lots of w2l scripts triggers everywhere that load env/fx files that you dont see on the WT tables, and when you think about it , it make since, the WT are just .. well weather tables

it may explain why novigrad is the only place where the skybox get broken when you use a custom WT, it might be loading something on top of the WT that make the sky so bright

You can use Asmodean's version if you are bothered about it. You can find it some pages back in this thread.

is this somekind of placebo effect you guys have? lol :D

its exactly the same as CL Mod, except it has envBend set to 0.5 - which you can set to whatever you want in CL Mod

IIRC Asmodean's version is set at 0.7, not 0.5, The first version (the one that truncated files too) had it at 0.5 but then he increased it to 0.7 if I'm not mistaken.

However at the time of his first version you still didn't have a way to set the bend in your mod, so when Asmodean released his version it did look "better" (in the sense that some of the shortcomings of setting it at full 1.0 were resolved in that way).

I've been using yours @0.8 ever since you linked it, and for actual playing, i couldn't be happier. I've even linked your forum post from my preset. It works.

I'm content with my graphics (save for another color preset i want to try) so more playing than tweaking now. Will look at the new mod soon, but not for too long as there's a sweetfx development cost for stuff like this to get your colors back.

Asmodean, just in case, i think a bunch of other people are using it and there have been some good interest for a 0.8 version as well. You should release whatever you've done as the GAMEPLAY cutscene lighting mod. It serves that purpose excellently.

This is like a freakin generation above vanilla/console version.

However it would be masterpiece if your preset was little bit more "blueish", like this one https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/3741/ however this one dosn't seem work so well with Cutscene Lighting

Glad you like it. I was actually going for a specific look (while dancing around with shadows, weather and foliage, but anyway).

If you want to change the colors slightly, go into the preset file, and change the vibrancy setting. Its currently set at

#define Vibrance -0.35

Change -0.35 to -0.20, or there abouts, adjusting to how you like it. The trick with sweetfx is to go too far and pull it back to what you like.. so perhaps set it to -0.10, decide you don't like it, and adjust the values back into the middle of the range. I've seen what people seem to like here, and -0.20 was.. alot closer to that.

Alright @krakuus post was one too many not to fix it for you.

If you didnt like my preset, heres the maximum color version of it.

https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/3958/

No way in hell i'm playing like this myself.. but from doing this yeah, my impressions of the game were badly scarred by my first few mins in vanilla, i never wanted to see world of warcraft again. May have took it too far.

There's another sweet spot, not so bleak, that i've almost found closer to what i was imagining for the game.. will get that up soon too.

Hope this helps anyone who didn't like how much color was removed from the last preset.

Hey, folks! Can you clarify some things about KNG's ligthing mod v 1.06, namely:

1) As I understand the draw distance in the cutscene mod is even lower than in the vanilla game?

2) There are some issues with skyboxes in Novigrad? I.e. the sky appears to be broken in that area?

On screenshots it looks great and lively. But man the draw distance being very low as it is, I don't think I could deal with that trade-off of having better lighting and shadows.

Setting your preset's vibrance to -25 did it for me, though at some places I kinda miss how it looked set to -35 (in swamps, for instance). I'm curious to see this "another sweet spot" you're talking about.

I've just landed in Skellige and this is how the cutscene lighting with vesemas preset (with my previously mentioned small tweak) looks during a storm (no idea why my screenshots look so crappy tbh)

Once I've landed on Skellige I personally found out that the colors look great there with the vanilla game. When I'm there I turn off SweetFX, sometimes I might turn it on but only in night hours in the game, during the day it looks great as it is. Why couldn't the color palette be as natural across the board is beyond me. Skellige is where the true beauty of The Witcher 3 really shows (if only the draw distance was twice as big, that would be grand).

Naah not that secret. I mashed in -25 earlier today too, and liked what i saw.. Curiosity wanted another go at least.. so up to -27.. there seems something special about that setting.. witcher wants to be a little bitter.. that's the theme of the lore.

Having said.. this is really subtle stuff. The difference between any 3 numbers in vibrancy is subject more to the color gamut of your monitor, how accurate the icc profile you're using, the temperature settings etc. The comments in the sweetfx file say its intelligent desaturation or something, i get the feeling its definitely considering something more instead of just applying a fixed amount based on the number.

Yeah some value around the mid 20's (also moved based on your monitor) is feeling good at the moment.

EDIT: Thanks for your post btw.. really glad -35 made sense to someone else out there.

I saw the inside of Vizima castle of the Witcher 1 today and the lighting is even BETTER.
Anyone else getting more and more disappointed with the graphics, the longer u play the game?
I am going to put it aside and wait for graphic mods.
I mean, just stand at the side of a lake and look across.
Look at the islands and trees in the distance. It's so horrendously low quality. It's like ES:Oblivion sometimes.

Nope. Sorry for the plug here two.. just in case the regulars here don't check out the ss thread.

My preset at
Code:
#define Vibrance     -0.25
Using asmodeans cutscene mod with envblend @0.8

Okay, i could live with this. Didn't you guys all freak out when everything was yellow when you first stepped into white orchard? Also, what downgrade? :p

Recommended to see the large of the shot with the guard.

Thanks to @Asmodean778 Without your version of the cutscene mod this would not be the same. As it works.. its just enough to push w3 over the line. Can't thank you enough.

@matheuscmffa yeah might be onto something there with -25 :)
