Witcher 3 music

For me, the biggest thing that was missing in TW2 OST (and, from the tracks I've heard, in TW3 as well) is the rainy day/haunting night mixed with serenity feeling that TW1 tracks gave off.

So far we've only gotten to hear a select few pieces of the Witcher 3 soundtrack, but I really really really like the style they went for with this one. Not only does it perfectly fit the epic scale, tension and dark themes of the trailers, but it overall feels like a much more quality soundtrack. I'm especially fond of the unique vocal touch in the themes :D

Anywhere I can download the trailer cut of the song?

You get four tracks now if you buy it on GoG.

edit - and I agree with everyone else, they have positively nailed the music. The right tone, the right amount of drama and danger, both TW1 and TW2 elements and a perfect blend of traditional instruments with modern sounds.

Dunno, maybe this has been posted before. I don't hope so, if yes remove please.
I watched the movie Michael Kohlhaas (Age of Uprising in english i think) yesterday (Adaption of one classic of german literature, about a horsetrader's struggle for justice in the early 16th century).
This is the song that ends the movie, and it's absolutley gorgeous. I think it would fit the witcher greatly
enjoy!

Stelar job @Marcin Przybyłowicz. :) It fits that trailer just perfectly, it's raw, powerful, just how a Witcher song should be.

Although I do hope that you tone down the vocals a bit in the game (especially since I heard it during combat in yesterday's demo). Not saying I don't like vocals at all, but I really feel that the instruments should take the front seat.

(Sorry, Kinley, just balancing the vote on this).

That's alright. I love the vocals too, just think they're too "in your face". Maybe it's just because they've been featured heavily in most of the pieces we've heard so far, who knows. :)

Yeah, about the vocals - I've read already several opinions that - to simplify it - vocals are bad, mkay.

We want to treat vocals just as any other musical instrument in the ensemble. Proper vocal technique (i.e. archaic singing, in polish: biały śpiew; literal translation: white voice/white singing) used in the right place, in the right moment and in the right proportions can help the scene. So based on the stuff you already saw yesterday - please note you only heard vocals twice:
- when Gerallt was fighting bandits (vocal layer is only triggered when situation becomes dangerous - so Geralt is facing several opponents at once, or just one, but really heavy, hard to elliminate)
- during end sequence of combat with the griffin (we used vocals to highlight the scene, you didn't hear them during gameplay).

I can assure you there's plenty of pure instrumental stuff int the game and vocal stuff is not taking over, but - it's not like that 5min gameplay you saw was just an accident. We do use vocals - only where they just need to be, where they fit.

It's just the same as ethnic/slavic vs symphonic music influences in TW3. I also believe we found the golden mean here.

Thank you so much for the amazing reply, Marcin. :) Can say I'm not as worried in that regard anymore.

I really liked the song with vocals during the bandit fight scene (and I prefer instrumental music, most of the time), although it "kicked off" a bit late. It should really start at the start of the combat with group of opponents. Just my 2 cents.
