Witcher 3 music

Music must raise emotions in and outside TW3 game (vocals or just instrumental). Otherwise I can silent the game and just listen to some *cough*Bieber*cough* songs.

I think I'm going to request they bring back the Bad Word filter...

But yes, I agree. I don't like playing games in silent mode with other music. I dislike even more that in some games you *CAN* do that without losing anything, the in-game music is a really important part of the experience.

I've read already several opinions that - to simplify it - vocals are bad, mkay.

Seriously, 95% of people write about something when they find it wrong/ dislike it. Maybe a poll would make proportions like/dislike a little bit more normal. I'm gonna do a new thread with a poll right away, I'm really curious if people are THAT deaf.

Now my take, I'll try to stay around E3 music only:
-The music blends really well with both the ambient sounds (wildlife/ water flowing) as well as conversation with the witch.
-The vocals come in the right place during the fight and are not overly in-your face, they fit well! (As a guy who listens to black metal since his teens I get the concept "vocals as an instrument").
- The transition between the background music and combat music was smooth - not just "BAM! - battle track"
- The same background music could be heard both before and after the fight with bandits - good!
- The "BAM!" came when needed during Griffin fight and also blended very well with backround!
- During the Griffin fight it got the momentum it should have to emphasize the experience.
- For the purpose of the presentation the sound overall was quite silent, so it's not in its full glory.

Overall, it seems that particular tracks blend really well with each other. Are the transitions layerd somehow over particular tracks?
Marcin, Great props from me!!!

Heh.

As I've said in my previous posts, vocals are heavily featured in the pieces we've heard so far, didn't mean just yesterday's demo. I'm just used to hearing them here and there like in the previous games, whereas now they have a more prominent role. Again, nothing wrong with that, it's just a personal preference.

Yeah, about the vocals - I've read already several opinions that - to simplify it - vocals are bad, mkay.
The music we've heard so far is great and very different from the generic music most fantasy games have. I actually like it quite a lot (this is coming from someone who listens to thrash metal so yeah..) Some people are not going to like the vocals but as long as the tracks fit the game's events well and give it a unique and distinctive style it's going to be great. Just stick with the slavic style and your vision of the soundtrack. Don't try to cater to everyone's tastes 'cause it's impossible to please everybody anyway. :rebel:

We want to treat vocals just as any other musical instrument in the ensemble. Proper vocal technique (i.e. archaic singing, in polish: biały śpiew; literal translation: white voice/white singing) used in the right place, in the right moment and in the right proportions can help the scene. So based on the stuff you already saw yesterday - please note you only heard vocals twice:
- when Gerallt was fighting bandits (vocal layer is only triggered when situation becomes dangerous - so Geralt is facing several opponents at once, or just one, but really heavy, hard to elliminate)
- during end sequence of combat with the griffin (we used vocals to highlight the scene, you didn't hear them during gameplay).

I can assure you there's plenty of pure instrumental stuff int the game and vocal stuff is not taking over, but - it's not like that 5min gameplay you saw was just an accident. We do use vocals - only where they just need to be, where they fit.

It's just the same as ethnic/slavic vs symphonic music influences in TW3. I also believe we found the golden mean here.

What are people complaining? The Percival girls have a great vocal direction on their albums. And that's a great difference from other folk/world music bands.

And it's 100% Witcher !

Came here to post about this piece of music

Its serenity is absolutely captivating.

I also love the vocals. I can see the point in criticism that vocals came too late in that fight but other than that... nope. They are great.

To think I was scared that soundtrack may not measure up to previous games after composers left... so far its amazing.

I absolutely love all the music we've heard so far and I for one LOVE the vocals. I hope a modified version of this song will be used aswell:

Would love to hear the part that starts @ 1:26 during combat.

I have to agree, the music so far have been spot on .

Actually, the music I've heard so far doesn't remind me of TW1 nor TW2. It's quite different, but it looks like it really suits the game and the environments. Congratulations, @Marcin Przybyłowicz!
I, too, was a bit concerned when I found out that all the original composers had left the studio, but it seems there was no reason to be worried. :)

Im digging the collaboration of Percival in this OST. I especially love The lazare song featured in the Unboxing trailer. You can also hear it in the swamp video when Geralt slashes Drowners. It will be really original.

After being able to listen to "The Fields of Ard Skellig", "Merchants of Novigrad", "Ladies of the Woods" and "Sargon" I have to say that Witcher 3 will most likely have one of the best game soundtracks ever made. So much atmosphere, so much variety, so much power, so much detail, so much epicness...

It's the audio experience, the music, that turns great games into true and timeless classics, to games we'll still remember in 10 or 20 or 30 years. It's the music that sticks to our heads most, more than everything else. Kudos to CDPR and Marcin and everyone else involved because...

...THIS MUSIC IS FUGGING AMAZING!!! :)

:hatsoff:

Has the music of the swamp video been released somewhere? When Geralt and Johnny are going to the mountain after Geralt killing the drowners?
