Witcher 3 music

+
The Witcher is all but epic, instead it's personal and emotional. The music we've heard so far does a great job conveying this. On one side it's raw, cacophonic, primal, even savage, and then it's lyrical, melancholic, soothing. The small scale obtained by relatively small number of instruments help in creating the intimacy. So far I'm very pleased with the direction the music is going, especially since I was disappointed by what I heard in TW2.

Great fucking post. Definitely agree.

This is something I see a lot of people do, especially Americans, and that's mistake what tone and atmosphere the Witcher games are going for. They're not dark - they're real. They're not epic - they're close and personal. They're not mythologies but rather a snippet of potential history which you are shoved right into. This world of chaos is forced upon you and now you're desperately trying to make sense of it. And that's the greatest advantage of this type of story telling. It's human. It's relatable and grounded. The politics and relationships make sense and add so much to the narrative coherence. Instead of just saying "it's magic, I don't need to explain that shit", the Witcher games actually do explain shit and you're able to follow all the intrigues and personal motivations without breaking flow or shattering the suspension of disbelief. This allows you to focus on empathizing with the characters and universe. It draws you in like no other interactive art's done in a long while.

Not to say that stories can't or shouldn't be fantastical - like Dragon Age, or legendary - like Dark Souls, but the style RED is going for is fucking awesome and a breath of fresh air in this very stale and predicable industry.

Sorry for the semi-pretentious post but god damnit I fucking love RED and the Witcher. As soon as they translate all the books, I'm buying all of them. Immediately.

You are pretty much write what I have in my mind. Have to tell you someting. Usually I don't really like the love scenes in novels/short stories and stuff like that, and guess what my favourite witcher short storie? The Ice Shard. Pretty much is all about Yen and Geralt's releationship, to be honest I have never read such a real and human releationship in book. The emotions feels soo true and human, and what I would say more about, closest to real. What the CDPR did perfectly is that they catched perfectly this essenceof the books.

Other thing:
I know that CDPR released a lot of track from the OST but none of my favourite. So could you possible post the full version of this? Pleeaseee :p

I don't want to turn this into a GoT discussion but I really liked this piece during the ship scene. I hope TW3 will have something similar with the singer from the Sword of Destiny trailer. All what I heard so far from the OST that CDPR release so far I enjoyed.

It's only on soundcloud right now, that's 128kbps. It hasn't been officially "released" so you won't find 320kbps anywhere.

I think I must be one of the few, if not the only one who doesn't like Percival all that much. :p But it's no problem, I liked what I heard in the demo's (especially the swamp demo).
