+1 this is not acceptable, the original screenshots are still on the store pages and in reviews. I have no doubt the rest of the game will be amazing. But i fear for the future with the way this PR has been handled.

And this is what it comes back to. You showed a game that never existed. Pre-orders (at least from PC users) flooded in, and what was showed, is not what we have in these videos.
@phaino And then they provided hours of official footage, since SOD (which the current Ultra looks like, IMO). People have been seeing the current look for nearly a year now, and they are still getting crazy pre-orders. People had and still have time to cancel their pre-orders if they are thinking that they have been deceived. They are truthfully showing what the game looks like for a year now.
So, if anyone is disappointed to so much of an extent, the logical thing that they should do is just cancel the pre-order It's that simple. One e-mail. And then buy it when the time comes if they wanted to.
And seriously, it's totally okay to convey your disappointment. But people are going from hyperbole to hyperbole, throwing accusations (DARKSIDE!) and screaming everywhere... Just, keep calm and cancel pre-orders if you need to (Not talking to you specifically in this paragraph), and even say that you are disappointed and discuss it. But if it will come down to thrashing around, please for the love of Odin, do it elsewhere... It's not "constructive", and it doesn't achieve anything other than annoy people.

Please keep in mind that the game is still in production phase. Certain things are still being worked on. The final version of the game will look better than what can be seen in the latest screenshots – no matter the platform. As you probably know, when publishing screenshots, some of them can be subjectively less appealing than others (depending on one’s opinion), that’s perfectly normal. The most important thing here is that the game will come out looking gorgeous when we are done working on it. There will be no downgrade.”

Yes I agree. And I cancelled my pre-order. However, you failed to mention the 35 minute E3 demo that was released on August 2014... That paints a different picture. If you want the link I can provide it.

To my eyes, at least, it was full pirouettes. Check that particular scene here. Just watch it a minute or so, there are no spoilers in that scene, just fighting some nekkers. Geralt clearly goes in tight circles, striking the enemies all around him.

Well, I'll be playing on the Xbox, the game looks very nice to me.
I struggle to understand all the endless whining about things like how sharp the grass looks.
And as for 'pre-order cancelled' because the textures are shaded slightly differently, truly bizarre.
The reviews are saying it looks great on the different platforms, and much more importantly, that it tells interesting stories.
I hope that once the game is actually out, that the discussion may turn to what the game actually is.
I honestly believe that some people play games just for graphics and nothing else, it has to be. I mean this game is getting great receives all around saying things like it could be the best RPG ever. And people won't play a game that has great story, gameplay and is lot of fun because of graphics? And the worst thing is the game is not even ugly. It's gorgeous, it's the best open world game i have ever seen. I would even understand if it had bad graphics but that's not the case here.
its true that maybe some people care too much about the visuals, but that's more or less up to them. you could throw me with the downgrade's, but I will buy and play the game anyway, most will. Rarely do you get people who decide to remove their pre order, but that's because they have particular stake in the issue, yours is different. most of those not buying the game could possibly be hard core PC enthusiast, and they may have got a monster computer for the game. and then there are problems like the the downgrade the only means you have to defend yourself besides speaking on forums like this, is a vote with your wallet. they may play the game anyway by pirating it, but the company gets no profit from you. others who talk about visuals and downgrades can fall in other places, some people see themselves as cheated by recent controversy among other things, and some believe that visuals (just as much as every other part of the game you value) are essential to the experience. it is a video game after all, but its also art if you want it to be, and people can be even more passionate about that, even more than the developers. Everyone has different concerns and its usually a combination of them.

ultra without hairworks is said to run fine on 280x/770 .So yeah pretty well optimized even without drivers and patches
