Witcher 3 Resolutions at launch

Hi guys. Gotta say i love your games, and i'm sorry if this might break the forum rules but i'd like an answer to this question. I've got 1 more week to decide if i'll keep my 21:9 monitor or not.

I love how great ultra-wide is compared to normal HD but sadly for example TW2 doesn't support it, not even WSGF came up with a solution to it. Same with latest Ubisoft games but can't say i care much about those.

All in all, around 90% of the games do support it. Will you guys support it as well in TW3? Hopefully you can answer this so i can decide whether to keep my 21:9 or turn it in for a 1440p one.

Thanks and keep up the awesome work.

I can only speculate on this topic, but it seem like yes.
And as TW3 is a "Next gen game" it should so, other wise its not an "next gen".

Well technically, "next-gen" is still 16:9. So it's debatable :(

What's the worst that can happen? You'll play with black bars on the sides as if you had a 16:9 screen. No big deal imo.

Next gen is buzzword and doesn't really mean anything as it comes to pc gaming anyway. That said you most likely will be able to play on your old monitor, black bars may happen though.

Ehm, old? You do know the 21:9 is a new thing right? Hence the somewhat shaky support. It's 2560x1080 and it's a way better experience than the normal 16:9 HD format :p.

Higher res is coming out this year 3440x1440 etc.

And yeah i know next-gen is a buzzword when it comes to PC gaming. Problem is most of the games are developed for consoles first, and 16:9 is still the standard there for their actual "next-gen", reason why i used the quotes.

Well i kinda went the 21:9 route for a mini-eyefinity setup without the crappy bezels. To see more and have a better experience. The black bars would kind of ruin that.

Yeah i'll mod it when the kit comes out ;)

Yes ofc, but what I'm saying is don't return the monitor only because the occasional new game doesn't support it (right away). It's like playing old 4:3 games on a 16:9 monitor with black bars.

It should... I was thinking about getting one of those monitors too, and if this game supports it then I might just get one

Holy shit. First time I'm seeing these monitors. My first reaction: Overkill! I mean fuck, let's not act like 16:9 is shit and limiting as all hell. But my second thought would be: hm. Interesting. I'll be holding on to my baby for now. It works great and I'm not a materialist. Maybe someday I'll "upgrade". I don't know anything about the new screenies, hard for me to accurately judge this shit. But looks cool.

As for the OP, sorry I'm late :p Well, come to think of it, it's not like I had anything of any value to contribute with anyway.

Ultrawidescreen(21:9)

Greetings to all! Will be supported Ultrawidescreen(21:9)? I want to buy the game, but do not know exactly whether there will be full support of my screen!

For your sake, I hope there is. But it's the first time I've heard of that aspect ratio.

Found this old thread.

TW2 didn't support it but devs never said TW3 won't. So keep you hopes up there is a very big chance that it will(afterall it is a "next gen" game)

I wouldn't count on it. And if they do I doubt they can guarantee it at this state, guess you'll have to wait until closer to release.

Resolutions availible?

I'm curious to know what the Max resolution or aspect ratio TW3 will support. Now that we are getting closer and closer to the release date isn't time that the Specs and other technical info are released?

I'm asking because 4k screens and 21:9 screens are becomming more common. (Not that it will run at 60fps on a 4k screen but it will look glorious.)
And i'm looking to buy a 21:9 screen, but the aspect ratio isn't that well supported by games these days so it might be a stupid move to buy such a monitor ( at least for now.)

Yeah 21:9 isn't a great idea as of yet, but 4K and above resolutions should not be a problem(I can run TW2 at 7680x4320 for example). Most games these days do support high resolutions quite easily.

I've red somewhere that TW2 had problems with 16:10 in the initial release and only later got a patch to properly support it. I hope TW3 won't have such issues.
