Witcher 3 still causing "Drivers not responding" problem

I've looked it up all over the internet and none of the solutions worked. I'm running a GTX 970 and I can run any other game fine. Once I load into the game and about 15 seconds passes, my game freezes and minimizes itself to the desktop with the sound still playing. When I try to tab back into it, it crashes and closes.

Is there a legit fix for this yet or am I stuck being unable to play the game? It's really aggravating. I don't want to rollback my drivers because before I updated my drivers to the current version I had a horrible flickering bug.

After updating to the new drivers, I had to reset my game defaults by clicking the graphics mode options (low, medium, high, ultra) so the game itself decided what my rig would run. Hope that helps, but still, a problem needing addressed since a player ought to be able to choose what's what, that's what.

Fixed it. Uninstalled my drivers for my GPU and then installed the 350.12 drivers (the one tailored for when GTA5 came out). Haven't had the problem since. This is for Nvidia of course, I'm not sure what the AMD equivalent would be.

Kinda sad that you need to do this in the first place, but nonetheless it's a great game so I can let it slide

I had frequent driver crashes (similar given the description) on a 770. Fixed it by down-clocking the GPU by 50 MHz. It seems that some overclocked and factory overclocked GPUs are prone to this. I've theories as to why, but let me know whether down-clocking fixes it for you.

Downgrade to 350.12 again, any driver after that caused my Drivers to crash a lot.

Kinda sad that you need to do this in the first place

I've been playing on last two versions without significant crashing 350.12 had me crashing a lot but that was due to pre 1.03 patch not drivers I think. 1 crash in 8 hours at least of play on the driver before latest, and 4 on latest with 1 crash, Hopefully that hold up this weekend when I get more time to play. Though no crashing would be better lol
