Witcher 3 - Too long, for me.

I just can't do the RPG marathon's anymore.
Yes, it's fantastic that you get so much content for the dollar, but damn - how much time do I have to commit...

I think I'm going to go back to simple FPS games where I can plop an hour in here and there.

End rant!
Long live short games? Haha!

Seems you resolved your own issue. You really didn't think given how high CDPR has raised the bar there wouldn't be enough content to fill the world they managed to create? Nevermind don't answer that.

Yeah.. I think you should change the kind of games that you're playing...

TW3 was the only game that I've bought this year and made me feel that I've spent my money right...

Even MGSV TPP couldn't reach TW3 greatness in my POV, and got me a bit disappointed with it's shortness (200 missions wasn't enough for me, cause most of that is too repetitive)...

TW3 as GOTY for me in this moment...

For me it's not the lenght of the game per se that is problematic (Still on my first playthrough, clocked in 240 hours), it's that after The Battle For Kaer Morhen and Bald Mountain the remaining side quests and question marks have lost their appeal, they're feeling as a chore. I'd rush to the final mission if it wasn't for the add on which is coming out next week. But since I'm level 30, I'll keep doing contracts and treasure hunts to reach that recomended level ;)

I get that a lot.

But yeah, it can take a while to beat. What you could do is focus on the main quest, which should shorten the game significantly.

Whaaaaaat? I thought I was playing slowly! Took me about 150 hours, all side quests (that I could find) and most question marks (not those on the open sea on Skellige though) included, fast travel only for lenghty routes I had repeatedly covered walking and riding. What's your secret? Are you a Gwent addict or do you regularly stop and stare at scenery for minutes?

On topic: What Reptile said. Do side quests only selectively when you feel like it or as required to progress. It will still be a long game, but nowhere near a full playthrough. Besides, as the main story really just loosely ties together the content for a long time, you can quite easily do those 1-2 hour sessions and just do a side quest or a contract or play some Gwent. You're not likely to forget anything monumental if you take a bit of a break in between.

When games keep getting released with 2 hour campaigns and 30 hour DLCs to make up for it, you can blame this thread

Good Games cant be long enough for me :D
And these days, the most games are incredibly short and not really worth full price...

But everyone have a different taste.

Are you kidding the best part of the witcher is the sheer scale of the game & its rare that a game can keep my interest for so long. Even now after 2 playthroughs & 350 hours or so of game play I still keep wandering around the map. After completing it I decided to get to level 70 make as much coin as I could & get the best possible weapons & armor. I still come across the odd few surprises on my travails like a hidden chest or new Quests although I haven't found any recently so I'm just about done until the new DLC arrives.

I don't know, I just finished my third playthrough which was around 170 hours. It'd be a hell of a lot more if I was into Gwent. Haha. Anyways, if you put in 3-4 hours every day you could finish it in a couple of weeks. Once you get to Novigrad you'll probably be wanting to play it nonstop, though. It may seem overwhelming at first, but if you stick to story/secondary quests it all starts to unravel. You'll still progress at a good level, and traversing the map will become easier.

It is long, but one thing that overly impressed me about this game was its overall good value for money. This is most probably the only game that I have played that I can say I defiantly got more bang for my buck.

I never played TW2 so I came into this game as a complete newbie, now all I want is more. I have cleaned up every map, raided every loot stash. I spent a good 8 hours just in Skellege just collecting all the smugglers loot stashes. The last couple of days I have been running around playing Gwent (cant wait to get my hands on the physical version)

I did finish and win all the quest driven Gwent games (lol I had to load "High Stakes" a couple of times to win) Got all my witcher armor to master crafted status, mixed all oils and potions to their superior status. Finally I took advantage of the glyph/rune stone glitch/item dupe and sold many greater stones back to merchants and got my hard earned coin back. I have not started a new game+ yet since I was playing on Blood and broken Bones setting to begin with. I'm on level 37 (don't think you can get any higher than that on a regular play through)

All in all I have over 200 hours clocked up, which is a huge time investment but I'm ready for HOS exp pack now cause now all I'm doing is going around killing Nilfgaardian/Redanian guards with Igni at 260% :)

I totally understand the feeling, but it depends on the games for me, Witcher 3 (first playthrough) took me around 150 hrs according to Galaxy but it felt totally natural and not forced, I didn't had a "heh kinda bored now" moment and never felt like it was too long, on the other hand, a game like Dragon Age: Origins (which I didn't find to be bad at all) will get me that feeling of "it takes too long", I heard it takes about 80 hrs to finish, but after 30 hrs I was completely fed up with the game and gave up, didn't even wanted to rush the main quest in that case.

Well, I had some 2,000 hrs with Dragon Age: Origins (some 200+ videos on YouTube and a few with a high view count). One of my favorite games ever and BW screwed up the series. DA:O was made before EA bought them and DA2 was such a failure. I got bored of DA:I and never finished it.
Now, I've been playing The Witcher series since the first game, with many runs on all of them. Galaxy is clocking 1250 hrs right now and even after 1,000 hours and a dozen runs completed, I was still finding new stuff and perfecting my game play. I don't think it is possible to discover all in one playthrough or even to become a real master of swordplay, fistfight, even Gwent perhaps, experimenting with different char builts in only one playthorugh, specially if it is Death March. But then, not everybody has the time for it. Pity that, as this game and even previous games like DA:O, TW1&2 deserve it.

I didn't hate DA2 as much as you but it was definitely a huge step back from DA:O and DA:I was just shit in every way.
They definitely screwed up that series, I don't even want a DA4
