Witcher 3's character models

There is no doubt in my mind that the characters in The Witcher Wild Hunt are the closest games have ever gotten to actual life like in appearance, gesture, body language and physical emotion. IN GAME and not pre-rendered of course!

How long does everyone think it will take for character models to reach the point where you just cant tell if the man or woman is in fact real or created on a computer?

A few years? 10 years? 20? More?

Personally, being level 34 (years old), i would really like to hope that character models (NOT pre-rendered ones) reach the point where they can easily be mistaken for a real person, before i die.

Looking at the above image of Cirilla, i cant help but see actual, real emotion on her face despite it being blatantly obvious she is not real. Human beings are quite a long way from creating in game, life like character models.

Give it ten years.. about the same timeframe I'd expect for true AI to occur.

Actually, i think we have reached that level. There are really realistic models on net and you can download and play with them in game with cry engine, unreal engine etc. etc.

Agreed. Also I think the character models in games such as Crysis 3 and Ryse are perhaps even better than those in Witcher 3. Rendered at high resolutions they almost look real.

What we need is a way to get CGI as ingame graphics without requiring a super computer

This sort of technology is still a few years away from being implemented into games but it gives you a glimpse of what is possible.

Where did you find this screenshot? That looks incredible. If that isn't an example of an ultra character shot then I don't know what is... :)
