You need to do a snazzy finishing move to get the rolling heads. Be patient, you'll get them.

Don't panic, you will get it. I had the first beheaded Salamandra in Act 1 when Geralt entered the hut, the Salamandra hideout bound for the hideout in the cave... or maybe it was the warehouse in the temple district.

I have the American version. Have the rolling heads, dismemberment, but was a bit into the game, not at the outset. I think Geralt is still remembering how to use a sword early on, and the fancy stuff only comes after he remembers his skills and gets less rusty. .

Like most others have said -After building your skills (earning and distributing talent points) The Witcher reveals many more fighting skills! It takes a little while to build up enough talent points, but it's definitely worth it.

You can actually get rolling heads even in the prologue, at least in polish ver. so it should be possible in every ver. just click in right moments at fights with enemies for whom you need strong style. (guys with axes).to the post below: it works becaause he innitially has second sequence which is called finishing move and he can stun with it (if you use strong style only) than You got a chance for all the finishing moves available for stuned standing enemies.

There is a violent part in the prologue as well in the German version.... some sort of finishing move. Geralt gets on ths shoulder of a Salamander and stabs his sword into his body. Don't how this worked because at stage stage of char developement Geralt hadn't a sqeuence skilled up to a fnishing move ;D But I think it was an exception to introduce as many features as possible of the game in the tutorial.

I've managed to get a rolling head in the prologue, but only when the enemy has been stunned. I've seen it a couple of times on stunned salamandra. He kind of spins them round and chops at their neck. Strange thing is I saw the same move done but the head didn't come off. Weird.

Hmm, I'm pretty far into Act 2 and I have never seen a single decapitation or severed limb. Exactly, what are the requirements for it?

I've mostly noticed decapitations happen when using the group style. I'm not sure of the exact requirements but that's when I've seen it most often. Another time I saw it is when youou do a coup de grace (only just learned how to do those!) and one of the random ones is Geralt jumps onto the opponent's back and slits his throat. It's amusing to try to click on "remains" and Geralt has to walk around to the other side of the room to get to the main part of the body! ;D

If you don't see decapitations, on what graphical settings do you play? Probably if it's low you don't have this feature, just a guess.

I have all my graphics set to low (slow computer :( ) and I got 2 heads to roll in the prologue. Right after you see the frightener for the first time.edit: I have no idea how though.
