Witcher forum exlusive Times Of Contemp unboxing

Hi guys

I just received my Times Of Contemp book and i thought to make a small video to present the book to the community.

The Hard Cover book is amazing! It is like a tome and it is nothing like the paperback. As you will observe in the video the Hard Cover is bigger, nicer, and more suited to the "situation" compared to the paperback. I also like the Cover which i assume is Yenn.

If anyone wants the video in higher resolution jist PM and i will send it.

What do you mean different? You mean different from the books you have?

Well I have the same versions you are comparing the new one with, but I can't find Times of Contempt in that style anywhere.

So you have the paperback editions. Well, just wait a little bit and the paperback version should be released. Usualy they release a hard cover version and then the paperback hence you should be fine

Don't know... The paperback versions seem to feature art from the game on their covers and no idea on the size of the books. Oh well...

Wait... if you "look inside" on Amazon.com it says the translator is one David French, not Danusia Stok. Tripialos: you probably got the version by Gollancz, right? US version is published by Orbit. I hope they do a better job formatting the book this time.

Perhaps this might yet be a promising English translation. I was absolutely underwhelmed (another word for wanting to pull my hair out) with Danusia Stok's translation of Blood of Elves. Really bad.

I'm also very curious about the translation. Why is it that the English version has been translated twice, by two different people?

Did Danusia Stok's translation actually make it to print, anywhere? I have long suspected that she is very busy and has a number of other projects that are higher priorities. The Gollancz edition is also David French's translation.

Orbit and Gollancz are both subsidiaries of that literary Hydra, Hachette Livre. Some years ago, Hachette gave the US territory to Orbit; that's why you have Orbit publishing in the US and Gollancz everywhere else.

I've been commenting on French's translation in the other thread: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/35478-time-of-contempt-uk-version-in-us/

I'm not happy with it either. It's a different kind of awful from Danusia Stok's Sapkowski. But it's still less than the fan translation.

guys, is woman who translate wtcher's books really has name "Danusia"? im asking because "danusia" is diminutive form of name "Danuta ", for me, polish guy, its sound really silly cause u can call by danusia 5 yo girl not mature woman..so it should be Danuta Stok not Danusia

I honestly don't know. I've just read comments here and there, and I believe someone said that there were two different translations available. It's curious to see, however, that the fan translation(s) appear to be superior to that of a paid professional...

If Sword of Destiny is any indication, the fan translations leaves the official ones in the dust.
