I'd like it. especially with ciri-specific abilities. (transporting, slowing time, whatever)
It would be fresh while still continuing the series in a good way. the series is about geralt and ciri, not about the world.
you folks needto realize the series is not called the witchers- it is called the WITCHER. it is not about witchers nor do we need a new witcher. it is about geralt, THE witcher, and his company. and ciri is a witcher anyway.
so a ciri game could still be called the witcher. (it could involve geralt as a secondary character, npc, or something as well)
In fact, it is a great idea the more I think of it. they could call it "the witcheress"- a simple rebranding without the rebranding- attract newbies while staying true to the series
The people whining about gender baffle me- you watch tv with female leads, you read the books.. as a male I have 0 problem playing ciri. I'd never choose a female protag over a male if I had a choice (like in dragon age), but i'd lOVE to play ciri- not because she is female, but because she is ciri.
If it is a story based on an established female lead, I do not mind. why the hell would you mind? Of course if it is a gender neutral game like DA, I'll play a male, sure.. but this is Ciri, not some random girl.
Please, CDPR, do this. the more i think of it, the more I love it.. It is a way to stay fresh and introduce new gameplay and deliver incredible story that continues, staying true to the novels and the novel's setting and cast. I don't want just a new witcher- that is dragon age. I'll pass. I want more out of my story and MC.
Your post is contradictory. Most of the people talking about gender preference, myself included, are stating that LIKE YOU we would prefer to have a male protagonist and then you group us into a category of "whiners". Playing a role playing game as a lady is much different than watching a tv show with a female lead. Depending on a gamers imagination immersion will be determined by how closely they can connect with the characters personality and dialog options. We are talking about games that have 100 hours of role playing. Thats like watching 60 Tomb Raider movies in a row and choosing what the women is going to say in every dialog.
Personally a Ciri game is fine with me. It's just not my preference. I will enjoy the game play, the story, and environment just as much. I will pre-order it. However the immersion will not be the same.
Gender aside I think Ciri is a step down from Geralt. Geralt is not all powerful therefore he has a vulnerability that makes combat feel more real. Ciri has been established to be almost god-like which is trendy and mainstream. I would rather play a Witcher thats trying to make a name for their-self against opponents who are more powerful and where the odds are stacked against them. Furthermore I would rather spend time in Temeria than a empty world in a different dimension where there is no lore or history that I am familiar with. Since Ciri can travel to different dimensions the game designers might make the mistake of taking us away from the land we came to know and love.

I would love remakes of the first and second games.
Also, I'm such a fan I just can't believe that this is the last game in the series. I would still play it if they followed on with the series with Ciri as a playable character; she is great, and having read the books I just love her.
Shame that's the last of Geralt, the butcher of Blaviken. He is probably the best character I've ever known.
2nd game was really well done in my opinion and still has better graphics than most other games.
