Witcher series for Netflix confirmed!

I just read an article stating that they're casting a black girl as ciri in the upcoming movie despite the fact she is the whitest girl known to men in both the book and the game. Does anyone know the reason for this change?

Cant CDPR do something? Did i give my money for nothing?
Please CdprojektRed.

You must have some input into this. They are destroying our favorite franchise. She is the decendant of Lara Dorren and daughter of Emhyr. It has nothing to do with racisme! but it will change the stories and games to much!

Please. You are our only hope.

A great fan of your works.
They can't do anything. They've got rights for games but it's not in their power to decide stuff in Witcher TV Series.

Also, if it's 8 episodes ... I think it would work best using the last wish's structure, with episodes 2-7 being flashback stories while Geralt recovers from his injuries in "The Witcher" and then running off to save his two "destinies" when news reaches him of the impending war ... leading to "Something More" as episode 8.

1. The Witcher - intro to Geralt & world
2. The Lesser Evil - deeper dive in to Geralt and "neutrality"
3. The Last Wish - exploring Geralt's relationship with Yen and friendship with Dandelion
4. A Question of Price - Begin story of Geralt and Ciri, maybe have Yen in as well helping Geralt (would be a departure from books)
5. The Bounds of Reason - continues with Geralt, Yen & Dandelion ... PLUS DRAGONS!
6. A Shard of Ice - end of Geralt and Yen .. maybe introduce Triss here
7. The Sword of Destiny - Rest of tale of Geralt and Ciri, and the end Dandelion shows up and tells Geralt that both Yen and Ciri are in danger from Nilfgaard's invasion of the North
8. Something More - Geralt rushes off and find's Ciri ... deciding to take her back to Kaer Morhen. End of Season 1

Could work.

Why introduce Triss in the 6th episode? She has no appearance in the short stories and there is no reason to pot her into the show.
And Plus some epsiodes are missing. Would be the best just to put "the last Wish" book in one season, and even this could feel rushed.

As a background before her proper introduction in the second season. It's obvious from her inner monologue in several books there is history from before involving both, and Geralt and Yen cheating on each other would probably fit well into one episode. Cause you're likely not gonna be hearing Triss's thoughts at Kaer Morhen. So show them the history in Season 1, rather than have them talk about it in Season 2. Help's viewers better understand the tension in those scenes that her inner voice provides without needing a voice over.

Dunno. Triss is not a really likeable person (besides the second and third chapter of the first novel) and this would make her even more unlikeable. We know she used magic to get Geralt into bed, and showing her right after the heavy dramatic break up with Yennefer and Triss just come along put a spell on Geralt and have sex with him will turn Triss even faster in a unlikeable person. In the books this is better cause we don't know when Triss used this spell (maybe after a longer time of the break up) and this take a bit unlikeable stuff of her.

Don't get me wrong, TeamYen here all the way. But I would advocate having Triss seduce Geralt without the magic in the show. It's more interesting for all the characters that way IMO (even if it is inconsistent with the lore). Have her be more likeable up front, to make the betrayal of Yen later stings more.

I know what you want to say, but I don't see Geralt having sex with the best friend of his love with his own free will. Even when Geralt and Yennefer are parted the two have feelings for each other. This is why I cannot see Geralt and Triss together without magic used by Triss.

Ay, since she is so thoroughly deficient in non-magical charms: No attraction whatsoever possible there. . . .

(But, of course, I remain on Team Shani and the Lady's Team, so my opinion doesn't even count in this case.)

That's what I mean. Triss might be young and beautiful but we never saw her having skills in flirting. I mean the one time she does, was because of high fever, and that doesn't count as flirting what she said there ;)
What you said, and the point that Geralt do not shag the best friend of his lover just for fun, this is why there are no attraction is possible.
Glad that more people have this opinion :)

Question:
I read in the internet that the show will give us the short stories, now some people keep telling it will give us the Novel stories (some leaked script and so on)

Is there a solid information about this.
I mean: Why start with the novel stories and not with the short stories... seems a bit weird.

Henry Cavill is good. The one pic with the white beard is epic! Looks like Geralt. Eva Green would be a good Yen. The Ciri one i don't know yet. As superman henry was good , the fallout movie was good and now with the series i hope we will get a very good series. I hope we will see serrican(don't know how to write it in english :( ) and nilfgaard. If not then in the fourth game.

Shootings are about to start. Most actors probably already have their contracts signed. No point in delaying the announcements. Are they scared or something? And this whole teasing? It’s even more annoying than the lack of informations.

See the energy wound up in this post? ;) That's why they're delaying. "Always leave'em wanting a little more."

(Or something happened and the entire project is falling apart...)

The only thing that comforts me is that I know this abomination will flop hard.

They'll never get away with an underaged yen and black fringilla, the Witcher fanbase is better than that.

I don't really care anymore about skin color, just have some hope that they understand who's the real victim of racism in Witcher world (I mean racism by being different than humans, no skin color).

But I agree, Yen is terrible choice in case of look.

I know that Yen modified her look cuz irl she was like 100 years old or something like that.
But I she would get to pick look that man would like/ that would fit her character... that look wouldn't be look matching young Ciri's age.

I want the show to do well but I suspect you are correct. The choice for Yen is appalling. I just can't comprehend this girl playing Yen.

Ciri is white. Thank f***. Yen actress looks a bit too young, but we will see. The rest look good.

Oh crap! It's so hard to believe that such a young actress can provide a required level of badassness for Yennefer. I would be happy to be wrong, but oh crap!
