If you have the EE version.. then ignore the following. My guess is that the binkw32.dll messed the game up for you, after the 1.4 patch. The binkw32.dll program/file was changed to a newer version on patch 1.4 (aka: Enhanced Edition, patch), and the bink movies were updated to work with it. Binkw32.dll is used every time a cutscene is played and those intro logo movies. And the old version of binkw32.dll that witcher used, isn't compatible with the newer blink movies of patch 1.4 and up. Another side effect of the new binkw32.dll is that it doesn't work right with single core processors. You'll get skipping sound; most noticeably during the long intro movie. You'll here the narration, but the singing and sound effect cut in and out. Multi-core processors are fine, though.Binkw32.dll version 1.9.1.0 may work, but the real trick is finding it. The only one I knew of is no longer available for download. You can try searching your PC for it, lot's of games can have different versions of it in their directories and you may get lucky (I'd say which game uses it, but I don't know.). To see the version number, you right click on the binkw32.dll, go to properties, and then go to one of the tabs (don't remember what the tab is called) and the version number will be shown in there. As far as I know, only 1.9.1.0 and the newer version that comes with patch 1.4, work with the Bink movies of Witcher. As for searching your Harddrive, just use the search function of Windows Explorer for, binkw32.dll. The only other solution is not to update to 1.4, I guess.
