With Wolf out, what's the point of Feline/Ursine ?

Expect for Griffin, which has an higher sign intensity and stay the best for mage build, I was looking into sets stats and wondering what's the point of playing MC Feline/Ursine right now. Every piece of MC Wolf has superior stats anyway, regardless of your fast/heavy combat build. The only downside would be the medium armor perks. This gear is supposed to be polyvalent, but right now it feels like the best option for combat, even giving a nice sign advantage.

Am I missing something ?

Because looks. I wore a level 12 chest piece until I hit level 28 and could replace it with the crafted version. I also use a level 15 sword while being level 31. Stats don't matter that much

IMO it can also be a matter of style. Besides above lvl 30 it makes little difference which witcher gear you choose.

But as I recall mastercrafted wolf gear is for lvl 34 while the others are for 31. So for some players it will be no option to use wolf gear during their playthrough.

There is a quest bug that allows you to get 50xp like every 15 seconds so it's quite possible to reach level 34 before finishing the game

You don't need a bug for that. Do contracts, main quests and the more important side quests according to the suggested level (+|- 5) and you'll hit at least 35 before the finale.

Besides I just said for " some people " and meant nothing more :)

The swords are the best for ANY build, no doubt about it. Even on a pure sign sign build, having 10% more sign intensity and sacrifising the higher base damage and all the other things that wolf swords offer is not worth it. However i do not agree that the wold armour is BiG for every build. You will lose significant amounts of DPS compared to cat armour, if you have speced on cat school techniques

Because of looks. I alternated between the Kaer Morhen gear and the 1 armor white shirt for the entire game on Blood and Broken Bones difficulty. I also ONLY used traditional looking swords as opposed to the powerful fancy looking blades even if mine were weaker.

People care about stats?

Stat-wise pretty much all loot is boring in this game. It's one of the few area's they either didn't care about or totally screwed up.

Ursine Gear still offers far better damage protection against Monsters.

I've gotten all the gear sets, Feline, Griffin, Ursine, Wolf, etc. and I prefer the Feline set for shear attack power (+10%). I'm using Feline Mastercrafted trousers, gauntlets & boots and Zireael heavy armor. And seeing there isn't any general ability for Wolf gear yet.......I use the Cat Gear technique boost which adds 10% attack power.

---------- Updated at 02:37 PM ----------

I meant: Cat School Technique: Each piece of light armor increases critical hit damage by 25% and fast attack damage by 5%

But there is already. Griffin school techniques - for all medium armors, like wolf gear. Please tell me you didn't thought those 3 general skills apply only for those 3 witcher gears.

Feline still offers higher damage than wolf gear. With wolf gear I can get the damage over 3700/2600, while using feline armor with ursine swords I can get it over 4600/3200 with much higher critical damage than wolf.

like Karl_Dietrich said... Ursine Armor is still superior when it comes to damage protection. I can tank a lvl 30 Cyclops nearly 1,5 times longer than with a wolf armor.

The point of Ursine/Feline is to have an armour without an exposed belly.
