I`m moving this to the correct forum for hopefully better assistance . In order not to duplicate things you`ve already done might try listing things you`ve already tried .

So you don't have any overclocked hardware, right ?
which version do you own ? Steam ?

Need more details (when does it crash, what have you tried). I had crashing issues starting around my fourth or fifth playthrough due to having to many saved games. I would crash trying to load or save games occasionally. I deleted a lot of my old files except for the last save of a playthrough and that helped.

That's all I know to try.

Nothing is OCd. I own the steam version enhanced version. I have tried deleting old saves, tried the command prompt technique to enable 3gb of ram switch or w/e, moving saves to different folders. It crashes randomly not at any specific place or time, just constantly crashes between 20-40 minutes of game play. Oddly enough i can play the Arena just fine without crashing. its just story mode that gives me trouble.

To verify the cache open Steam>Library and right click Witcher 2 and select properties . Then in the window click the local files tab and tick the verify game cache button .

During game-play, did it crash most often when you open the inventory, map, or the journal?? If so, format your computer. That's what I did. Good luck ;)

I would not follow that advice. It's a waste of time if the problem is that the CPU or GPU cannot track the mode changes correctly, or the motherboard cannot change voltages timely. I'll go one step further. I'll say the only reason you should ever reformat a Windows installation is to get rid of malware that cannot be exorcised by any lesser measure.

Update drivers first. But if the crashes are random at some time into the game, overheating or a memory fault is a more likely problem.

Ok so i rebooted my computer , that seemed to have fixed me not being able to start up the game, but im still crashing randomly. and from time to time my saves get deleted. I was just at the beginning of chapter 2, and now im back in chapter 1 where i have to meet with iorvyth or w/e his name is.
