I just had to reformat and reinstall windows a couple nights ago and I told myself no more windows updates, those things always seem to make something go wrong but what is strange is that when i went to reinstall the Witcher 2 it gave me a cyclic redundancy error, I had just installed the game on like Friday of last week or something and it installed fine. I went and got an external disc drive from downstairs and plugged it in through USB after trying many other methods and the game finally installed.
Now for the relevant part, After finally coming out victorious and getting the game installed it asked me for my CD key and so i put it in and it started patching and the patch just wouldnt install. It kept recycling as someone above me put it, the bar would finish and then it would go again and again and again downloading the same 90,000 kilobytes or whatever. What is strange about this to me is that last week when i installed the game, i use Win 7 64 bit professional, everything went as smooth as could be without a single hitch. After reformatting i bumped into all these problems but luckily I'm a technician and troubleshooting is my life so after messing around a bit I manually installed the patches and now everything is working again thank god >.
