This is terribly vague. How about some system specs?Does it do anything at all?Error messages? Is "autorun" possibly disabled on your optical drive?EDIT: Oh, nix my last comment, I see that you tried to manually launch the installer and that didn't work either. Are you having any issues with any other applications on that optical drive?XP or Vista? If Vista, is UAC enabled?

System Model: Dell XPS710 Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000)Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHzMemory: 3068MB RAMCard name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTXDirectX Version: DirectX 10I'm not having any trouble with loading any other CD's/DVD's and there are no error messages. I installed the game about a week ago and got it running fine with only a few minor issues due to Vista. However, I reformatted my computer and now I can't install it. Literally nothing happens. Autoplay is enabled, and when I go into My Computer I can double click on The Witcher infinite times and nothing happens... This is the retail version btw.thanks for the replies, any help is appreciated.. I would love to play this game :(

Well now, that is pretty strange. I'm at a loss on this one. And all other discs work OK, you say?Do you have another computer you can try running your game disc on? See if you can replicate the problem on a different machine...EDIT: As a side note, I know sometimes anti-virus programs can cause unusual things to happen when trying to run executable files. What AV are you using, and is it disabled when you try to run the setup?EDIT AGAIN: Damn, these questions keep coming to me AFTER I post... :D What about UAC in Vista? This could cause some strange behavior as well. Try disabling that if you haven't already done so.

Maybe it doesn't like your DVD drive. What brand/model is it?

There are really only two possible issues that i know of. First, the DVD is scratched in some way. Second, it doesn't like your computer, or third, when you reformat your computer you didn't get a critical file.1) Not much you can do about that one. We'll assume it isn't that one.2) If you have another computer, try installing it on that one and then moving it to the other computer. This will not let you run the game, but it should come up with the message about inserting the DVD. If this is so, then there is a tricky way to fix it, but it *is* possible. I had the same problem with NWN.3) Did you ever install Daemon Tools on this computer? If you did not, then this cannot be the problem, but if you did, there is a relatively simple way to fix the error.

This problem also happens to me. I posted awhile ago and never got any answers even from Atari! I still can't install the game and it just been sitting here collecting dust.1) The game installs just fine on my laptop (but runs poorly because it is not a gaming PC)2) I have turned off UAC and firewall and rebooted and it didn't work3) I have upgraded my DVD rom firmware with the most current version I could find4) Everything else runs just fine5) I have done almost everything on this forum to fix it without any luckAny ideas?

And answer #3.
