Words fail to describe...

From the moment I saw the intro/outro cinematic of this game used in an unrelated fan made music video on youtube set to Manowars Die With Honor...after playing the game that song did kind of fit...interest was piqued about this game. After looking into it I found almost NO bad review for a game that from its player base is almost universally liked. I have to say though...this is in my opinion the BEST singleplayer RPG. As story goes it is immersing - I prefer games that are story driven above all else so cant wait for Witcher 2 whose trailer is definitely interesting.Aside from a few battles that proved quite the headache...kikimore queen comes to mind...many of the more pitched ones definitely entertaining while the accompanying soundtracks compliment perfectly. I have to say though that maybe the most epic piece is Frozen Reflections which makes me almost sad I played through on easy. But then again, plenty of opportunity to run through it again at higher difficulty. The Grand Master got me thinking, regarding the amulet. When Alvin was last seen in the village near Lakeside, he teleported away out of fright, maybe to another timeline according to Triss. I wonder...could it be that the two are one in the same? Interesting possibility to get the cogs turning upstairs. In any case, EXCELLENT game and I look forward to repeated runs through it and trying different combinations of alignment and decisions. Geralt is now one of my favorite game characters...and hope to be book ones too since I plan on getting the books that this is all expands on.On another note - How do you manage to brand runes into swords properly? Couldnt quite figure this out so they just sat in my inventory.

Welcome to the world of witcher and the forum. To brand runes:1. Have runes in inventory, and the sword you want to brand with you2. Talk to a blacksmith and click on the hammer 'reforge" option3. A "buy" screen will show up. If you have a sword that can be branded, all possible combination of runes with the sword will appear in the "Buy" screen.4. Chose the one you want to have, by "buying" it from that screen. For steel swords, it'll be a combination of meteorite ores and the sword.Remember, some swords cannot be customized. These have catchy names and are considered "rare". eg: GwalhirIf you take this sword to the blacksmith with some ore, you'll not get any reforged sword.

Specifically, you need *three* runes to reforge a silver sword and *three* pieces of meteorite ore to reforge a steel sword.

*BUT* It's best to carry all runes you have (>3) to the blacksmith. That way you can see all possible combinations of the runes you carry, and the critical effects hybrid compositions offer before you choose what you want. A 3-of-a-kind is not always the best. :)

Thanks for that info. All this time I could have upgraded my weapons more steadily, although that curved sword whose name I cant recall, thats available in the Lakeside village for 3k was definitely a worthwhile investment. Knowing how to make weapons better in intermediate and later on, hard will certainly make my life and mental stability better - nothing worse than hitting a point where you have t do a couple dozen reloads.

THAT is Gwalhir. Did you get the runic sihil in act 5? You can get 2 sihils in act 5. It's the one with largest damage. 100% increase+ignore opponent armor. No critical effects though.

Nope didn't get any enhancements for it - the sword as-is on its own was sufficient to cut down walls of foes while diamond dusting it made it more bloodthirsty (+40% damage). In my second go around however I'll be sure to do that. In the meantime I'll be a bit more meticulous before moving on to later acts this way I dont miss out the upgrades I didn't get last time. Now its on to intermediate since now I'm used to the game...

Vilgefortze is talking about different swords not enhancements. One is gotten through completing the dentist quest. If I'm not wrong other is acquired by making a certain choice in Striga quest.

2 sihils (Heavy and stupid looking) can be obtained by:1. Doing the dentist quest2. Killing ALL the rare monsters in the game (2 per act, total 10). Royal Huntsman offers you a sword , either silver or steel. Silver one is pretty useless after Aerondite. Steel one is second sihil.Other named swords (not crappy blue mountain swords) are:Harvall (2 can be obtained) (WYVERN slayers favourite)1. body of messenger in WYVERN island2. corpse in the fields in act 4. Near the WYVERNS (go left as you enter, and keep going)Judging by what happened to the people carrying this sword, don't attack wyverns with it.Gwalhir: ( expensive, is all)Buy it. I don't know of any way to obtain it for free.Dyabel (or something) ( dragon's blood my @ss. You wouldn't attack a granny with it)THIS is the sword you get after exiting the striga crypt. Velerad (also called d*ckweed in one of the posters near the order cloister) gives you this sword.
