World Fog - Please Let the Game Be Free

Toussaint released a little while ago and took the game's visuals to a new level. It didn't hide its vistas with fog like the base game so egregiously does despite it's beauty even far in the distance. CD Projekt RED had nothing to hide, especially from PC gamers, and I can say that after using the Super Turbo Lighting Mod to eliminate the world fog that hides much of Novigrad and some very pleasing far off mountains all over the game world, I have seen the light.

Unfortunately, that light is bland and downright ugly at times; banishing the pretty orange bath of light from White Orchard to oblivion in one particularly bad case. You see, the Super Turbo Lighting mod overhauls the game's lighting system, and also eliminates the world fog for spectacular views all around the game world, but its lighting just can't compare to the consistent quality and diversity of the vanilla lighting engine. Unfortunately, you can't get one without the other, and in fact, there is no mod that eliminates world fog without messing with the game's normal lighting system.

So I ask, why hasn't anybody modded out the world fog without undertaking the tremendous endeavor of trying to outdo CD Projekt RED themselves? I've seen it done, so I know it's possible, so why oh why hasn't anybody fixed this game's one glaring visual flaw? If I may rally for support from modders and devs alike now, I think gamers would love something done about this already. If you're reading this, please find it in your heart to let The Witcher 3 bare its naked beauty in all its glory, because after I've seen what it could look like, I just can't go back.

1A.) Clear mountains using STLM 2.2 (Super Turbo Lighting Mod)

It *is* possible to remove fog without STLM. I did myself, with another mod or while tweaking .ini, I don't remember (I think that you can tweak the fog intensity in the .ini).
What's sure is that removing fog requires to improve draw distances hugely.

Another thing is that the fog can be considered, in Velen, as a natural thing. It's also part of the atmosphere.

(Didn't the patch 1.12 reduced the fog, by the way? I'm not sure of that)

EDIT: I can't try now but there is a "fogDensity" line in the user.settings file, in "documents/witcher 3". Try to lower that, that's probably what you're searching for.

there is no "fogDensity" in user.settings

what other files did you edit to reduce the fog?

Yes there is, use Ultimate Lighting Mod and here is how to install it. It gives you options in the game menu to manually control the distance fog with it's "turbo"-mode and nothing else if you so desire. You might only see the distance fog as a flaw and I'm personally not the biggest fan of it either since it's not so realistic to always have it being there even when the weather is supposed to be completely clear. But it's actually used to cover up another visual flaw and that is the poor level of detail of distant objects and structures in the game.

This can be masked in an alternative way though though using depth of field instead thanks to the Native Depth of Field mod, done by the same creator as ULM.

EDIT: Hi @Yazu13 This mod just released and does exactly what you wanted, enjoy.
