World is not interactive enough, thoughts?

When speaking about interactivity, I think we need to differentiate between interactive story, and interactive environment.

Personally, I don't think that an interactive story automatically classifies a game as an RPG, even if it features other basic RPG-elements.
I'd call Cyberpunk 2077 a Cinematic Choice-Based Action Adventure: CCBAA
Awesomely put. I'd just change adventure for "novel".

Its probably closest to the "Immersive Sim" genre. Deus Ex would fall in the same category.

Sadly that also means they failed in delivering enough to qualify it as an RPG (the existing systems in the game that belong in an RPG are in some ways undercooked) or a good Open World game (comparing it to the best in the genre such as GTA/RDR).
The difference is most Immersive Sims don't try to go Open World or RPG and dont market themselves this way.

Also bigger role for the trauma team would be nice ...

And some random events on map like random assault from gang members or something ... game tells you that when you up your reputation you will also make enemies but I cant see any :D ... I can do anything I want, kill x members of a gang and nobody does anything about it.

i remember criticizing this in before on the witcher reddit got downvoted to oblivion

Yes, isn't Reddit wonderful? All you need to make comments disappear is a few downvotes, which is why I only lasted a few days on Reddit. Any dissention or contrarian point-of view is thrown in the garbage. They are as bad or worse than rpg.net

The Dev should just admit they lied about the game
Well, I think it's more accurate to say that CORPORATE lied about the game. The guys in the cushy offices promising the moon and not actually asking THE DEVS if it's even possible. And then telling them to have the game out for an arbitrary date whether or not any of it's actually finished, while forcing the devs to slave away with crunch for months on end.

Agree.. Very cookie cutter basic game-play with no immersion or real interaction. Everything is repeated in all the areas and no real reason to explore.
Can't lie I am disappointed in CP at the moment, so I hope that CDPR is listening and is primed to put out some game changing patches.

Agreed. The game lacks interactiveness. I expected to be able to explore the city, but there's really nothing to explore. It feels more like grinding (at least on higher difficulties), exploring the map instead of the city, with boring npc interactions, missing tiny touches that we loved so much in The Witcher 3 series. Say, why don't people react to the car horn? I'm with my car on a pavement, and want to drive off, but there's a lot of people there. I use my horn, and they don't give a damn. I slightly tap a gas button, and they suddenly start screaming and running away as if I drove into them. WTF?

A gun shop has a shooting range —why is there no any minigame, or even any reaction after I actually shoot a target? Aside from hiding my weapons for some reason, of course.

If I manage to save some people from a gang, they don't react. They don't thank me for saving them, they don't even run away. Why is there no reward for saving innocents? It's really hard to do on the highest difficulty. There should be some praise for that, at least.

Agree with all of this.

Agreed. Deus Ex Mankind Divided was a tiny world in comparison, but actually had more to do, more shops to enter and people to talk to. The world felt fuller and more alive. CDPR focused too much on breadth and not enough on depth - probably got too caught up trying to fix technical issues that the actual world development took a back seat.

i am still rooting for CDProjekt RED i kinda have small hope they will improve the game.
As do I. They made some seriously bad decisions leading up to release but there's no way they aren't fully committed to this game. No more hype and promotional bullshit. Nose to the grindstone and fix it.

Firstly I must say that the game is great and I enjoy playing it very much, but more and more I am playing I cant shake that one big dissapointment or issue I have with the game and thats that the world just not seem interactive enough and its really shame cause it has so much potential and unused opportunities in that area. I dont know I just thought it would be more interactive like GTA you know more specifically like GTA SA.

- All those food stands 24/7 or other shops around the game you cant interact with ... why you cant buy a hotdog or cofee or beer whatever then drink or eat it with some nice animation .. those are tiny things but it really adds immersion and life into the game
- Restaurants and bars ... sadly they are completely obsolete and not worth going in there, its just an inventory barter same as with the food machines and since all food gives same boost you just dont have to go there ever ... why you cant just sit around the bar or restaurant drink or eat something with some animations and chill you know maybe watch some strippers and give them some eddies you know
- Too few channels in TV and you cant interact with anything while browsing the web thats a shame ...
- No minigames (at least so far) there is also a lot of unused potential, i saw playing/gaming machines make them usable for in game gaming, pub games like darts or pool, hazard machines (also in game) maybe in game casino ?, there are shooting ranges at gun shops so why not make a minigame here to shoot for high score etc.
- Customizable cars (hope it will be added in some future DLC)
- What are those BDs for if you cant watch them? I still cant figure out why you can buy them them then? and whats the function of pawn shops cause you cant use almost anything he is selling and you can sell him everything you can sell to other vendors
- Too few prostitute/toys types ... I came only across two so far (one male, one female) and playing as male V I dont find the female version very atractive

Those are just few I can think of from the top of my head, feel free to add more if you think of any. I dont know after 8 years of development I just expected the world to be way more interactive and that there will be more things to do when you are not on a mission to just hang out you know.

But otherwise the game is great :)

How it can be improved? (probably wont, but hey a man can dream) Your thoughts?
If the devs don't see how much players want this, or cannot be bothered fixing these things I am done with CDPR. I am sorry to say but I just don't want a generic looter shooter.

That will be really cool once those features are in the game. It does feel kinda like just a hologram city at the moment.

It's hard to be immersed with the real bad npc AI.

Like I saw a couple arguing in japan town, day later in game I go back and they are still there with the same script. Didn't move once, lol

I think there's something to be said when it comes to the difference between interactivity and reactivity.

Interactivity wise, it's somewhat lacking but if the game is focused mostly on doing missions and such I can understand a bit why they wouldn't bother to let you sit on every chair and buy pointless food items from every single stall in the game.

However, what the game actually lacks is reactivity. Nothing really reacts to your presence unless it's to destroy it. Running into people on the street illicits zero reaction from the person you just smashed into. Go outside with no pants on? No one says anything. Wave your gun around in a busy market? Only thing that happens is a warning the police will be alerted if you don't stop, but literally NO one in the marketplace even bats an eye at it. Speaking of police... where are all the drop ships I saw at the beginning of the game? Where is MaxTac? They were built up as being this force you don't want to recon with. When I saw them come down and drop the carjackers in the car ride with Jackie, I was super excited to see them swoop in in a big display and make me actually feel the fear of drawing their wrath. What do I get instead? A cheeky plain clothes cop that teleports behind me al-la "nothing personell kid" and tries to cap me in the back of the head while I'm not looking. No sirens. No cars. No dropships. Just a cheeky NPC materializing from thin air that will probably kill me simply because there is no indication he even spawned in until I'm taking damage from them.

I can't grab a civilian and use them as a hostage to make the police back off, because you can't interact with the NPC's at all besides a single line of dialog that is usually a 'what?' like they are just now realizing they are in a video game.

And that's the problem. It feels like a video game. Like a glowy, fancy, mindless shooting gallery where you get points for shooting some targets and lose points for shooting others. I've lost interest in the main story at this point. You want me to feel bad about a main storyline character dying and then in the very next instance I see a truck trying to tony-hawk it's way down the guardrail, while a line of cars are stumped at how to navigate around a tin can that was left in the street. Then I look up and a gang war is errupting on one side of the street and 3 cops on the other side are just lazily watching it happen while standing next to a police vehicle that apparently NONE of them know how to drive. However, they deem ME a threat if I step too close to it for SOME reason, despite the gang war raging in plain view 40 ft away.

It's a joke. A really, really bad joke. Allowing me to sit on a bench and shove a fake burrito I bought from a corner stall in my face from an inventory screen isn't going to change how much of a joke it is.

Op: I completely agree. I really hope CDPR will spend some considerable dev time to further refine Night City and how we may interact with it. Start with the furtinture!

The game AI is a whole different story, but I agree completely, everything is scripted there is no randomness no reactivity from NPCs towards you or each other, no relations between factions (gangs, police etc.) or between you and the factions, you can do almost anything to anyone and wont be punished for it.

They went too far for story and interactive missions, characters etc. did a great job in this area, but kinda forgot to also spend resources on building the acutall lively, believable and immersive world. As you say you can be so immersed doing a mission everything is great, dramatic and you feel like you are here almost, and then the mission ends and you sudenly feel like you are playing a different game, like some beta version where there is nothing much to do except for traversing around map and looking at halfbaked interactions and mechanics. Its really shame.

This game is good and enjoyable but it needs some serious work if they want to make it the revolutionary title they promised.

It's very jarring and the main reason I can't take it seriously. I'm in this epic sci-fi adventure one moment and then on the set of Idocracy the next. After the cut scenes end I'm literally just waiting for President Beef Supreme to make an announcement on the nearest TV while I watch cars mindlessly drive off the tops of parking garages onto the completely oblivious NPC's below.
