World of Warcraft

Do anyone here play World of Warcraft and if so, what realm do you play on?
I've just started a trial account.

I have been playing since early BC and have a lvl 100 Shaman with 290 days /played. Yes I am a nerd.

Downed some pretty hard bosses back in the day. cleared everything up to including BT before the big nerf in the WOTLK pre expansion patch and every boss except Kil'Jaeden in Sunwell.

When WOD came out I made a sex change into an orc female because I can't stand the hunched orc anymore. My character is named Rokada (formerly Rekmar) and is on Vek'Nilash EU.

In WOTLK I cleared Naxx, Ulduar (with Yogg 1 Watcher as well), Trial of the Crusader and some Heroic bosses and Icecrown with every boss except Putress and Arthas on Heroic 25.

After that I became a casual because I started to get bored of the game but I still follow the game with great enthusiasm. WOD is quite a great expansion despite the fact that I am not that interested in the game anymore. Nowadays if I raid, it's usually in LFR because I don't want to treat the game like a second job anymore. Still, I don't regret my time spent in the game. One of my favorite activities nowadays if finding cool transmog gear and making my own sets.

No. It has a reputation of being a bad on-line game if you care about roleplaying. It's mostly about mindless grinding.

Don't want to make this a Roast of WoW thread but we might as well have a mature discussion.

Personally, I hold WoW (more than any other MMO) responsible for popularizing the ridiculous and over simplified play type classification we see today in action oriented RPGs. Even The Witcher 3 uses some of this terminology. I'm talking about the whole tank, DPS, healer triad that reduced role playing to choosing a stereotype, 100% combat oriented mind you.

Now I understand the idea behind tank as a function and dps as a metric, but this concept permeated even single player RPGs which now play like offline WoWs. They should have called it something else, like massively multiplayer online action raids.

Thankfully there's Kickstarter, but the damage is done. A new genre almost consumed an old one, impersonating it in the process.

Yeah, it also ruined the perception of MMORPGs (and probably can be called the MMO in this sense), that's why you see so many people saying in the "Witcher on-line" thread stuff like "heck no!". Because the first thing they think about is WoW and they have no idea that such games can be made differently.
