Worse Performance after EE Patch in cutscenes, fist fights and meditation

This has been posted in the gog forums but i don't know if there was a topic here discussing this.

Seems CDPR changed something to the game that whenever the cinematic depth of field or the normal one appears in the game the fps slow down when before the patch it was running really smooth. This can be noticed a lot in cutscenes like the first one in the rain or with triss in the tent when the effect kicks in, but it also happens during fist fights and when going to meditation and going to the menu.

Also, i think the effect has been drastically increased in ways that sometimes there's too much blur.

The game runs like before the patch during actual gameplay but worse in those moments.

I'm using 2 5850s in crossfire. As i said cutscenes werent's an issue before the patch and they always ran at 60fps without slowdowns on ultra (without ubersampling and motion blur which i hate)

It's not platform specific since both ati/amd and nvidia users experience the same thing.

Yep, seems to be slower for some reason but it was heavy anyway because scatter depth of field is more GPU heavy.

Same problem here and only with the new E.E. as I wrote in this thread: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29208-fps-problem-after-opening-characterinvtentory-window/

For example, in the meditation menu the frame rate drops from 30-40 fps (in-game) to 8-18 fps max.

I try different settings from configuration but doesn't matter and I didn't have this problem with the old version of TW2.

Obviously, my configuration is the same:
MB: Asus Maximus II Formula (BIOS 2104)
CPU: Intel e8500 (@default)
RAM: 4Gb OCZ PC2-8500
GPU: BFG 260GTX OC 896MB
HDD: 2xWD Raptor 150Gb RAID 0
SO: Seven SP1 x64

Everything with last update drivers (for the GPU I'm using last Beta 301.24).

I have already tried everything, also disabling completely Vsync and reinstall the game, but notting.

But I'm crazy, so I tried to reinstall the first 1.0 version of the game (from my old GOG backup) and magic... no problems

Only for test I decided updated it from 1.0 to the 2.0 and still no problem, so finally it's an issue came with the new E.E.

Best disable cinematic DoF then until there is a fix.

So I'm not the only one with the same problem!the game ran smoothly in my alienware m14x on high settings and some ultra but now I kept some in medium out of no option and still face the same mentioned problems, mostly in cutscenesthe response is bad, meditation doesn't even work for me sometimes, none of this encountered prior to the EE patchCDP please look into this

As suggested I disable Cinematic DoF (AllowScatterDOF = 0 in User.ini) and now the meditation menu works fine.

one question. Scatter DOF (Cinematic depth of view) does not appear only on cinematics but is the one used in fist fights and meditation? i thought it was the normal dof but i guess i'm wrong.

me again. I've seen in the ini file that there is:

AllowScatterDOF=1
AllowCutsceneDOF=1

Which one is cinematic depth of field? people suggest disabling scatterDOF but i thought cutsceneDOF was Cinematic Depth of Field

AllowScatterDOF is the cinematic depth of field.

I can too confirm this issue, with a gtx 680 fps can drop to as low as 35 fps during fistfights (I can't imagine the drops on some older hardware if gtx 680 reaches the low 30's.

I think they changed something with the DOF in the EE to make it look better so they crippled performance?

Did anyone try the fix proposed here? http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/possible_stutter_fix_worked_for_me_single_gpu

Its in one of the last posts. I have a HD6950 2gb card and it fixed this problem completely. You just have to put 2 files in the bin folder.

Simply useless (for me) because It isn't for this problem, but for lag and/or stuttering issues (I haven't lag or stuttering).

Example? In my configuration I can play TW2 2.0 without any problem with everything Ultra (only Uber disable) @1600x900 with an average of 30-40 fps (in some rare conditions min 25 fps).

But with TW2 E.E. if I leave AllowScatterDOF=1 in the meditation menu I have a max of 8 fps... EIGHT... If I turn it off (AllowScatterDOF=0) the game runs perfectly, like before the E.E.

not a working fix at least for me because it's not stuttering that we are experiencing, it's much worser fps everytime cinematic depth of field is used. Disabling it brings the performance back. Before the patch the game performed well even with that effect but it seems it has been changed, in fact it blurs the image a lot now, maybe too much

Guys, don't download anything that it's not official. The "fix" posted here is a malware. User has been banned now.

wow, have checked using malware bytes and didn't find anything. What's this malware called or what is supposed to do?

This fix http://www.mediafire.com/?wwwe12dgq26w26j originally posted on this thread http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/#1334787471 is not malware. It contains only a txt file and a dll and I scanned it to make sure. Someone from the GoG forums pointed it to me in this other thread http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/just_to_thank_you_dear_cd_project and it worked as he said. It doesn't work for everyone apparently (since neonism said it didn't work for him).

I didn't check my original fps on cutscenes/fistfights but I was seeing sluggish movements/stuttering as if I had low fps, and now they run well.

I'm just posting this to let CDP know that the depth of field itself isn't bugged and it's not "too much" for the game to handle it, it must be another problem.

It would be a shame if a patch removes the new depth of field since along with the new lighting improvements it really makes the game better.

A Malware? Strange, Yesterday I've done a scan before use it with Kaspersky 2012 and with PrevX 3.0. Now I've done a new scans with Malwarebytes + HitmanPro + SbyBot + Malware Destroyer but nothing.

What's this malware and what did you use to identify it?
Thanks
