I don't know how the hell you guys know all this. I'm a mechanic and a fairly diesent reader of auto wiring diagram, but you guys must be engineers or something right? Look I also have a similar question... What the hell does this mean? I'm affraid I am new to the gaming world cause I love how they look on the advertising. I don't know why the game crashes at the application. Would any of you space engineers know how to help me? I have been on every forum searching hi and low to try and find a solution but I am still an ape and speek english. I would be greatful for advise and the key tools for understanding computer jargon. Thanks Colt.

I'll try to write in a reasonable approximation of English rather than techie jargon, then.

This game depends heavily on your computer's graphics processor: more so than any other game on the market now. The speed of your graphics processor determine how well the game will play, or whether it will play at all.

Your graphics processor is "ATI 4500 series", according to the DxDiag report. If I look deeper, it has a device code of 9553, which is the Mobility 4570. That's not a bad graphics processor; it will play a lot of games, but it has only about one-quarter the speed that's the stated requirement for this one. In mechanic's terms, you're trying to race small-block V8's with a Mopar 318.

That by itself won't cause the game to crash. Crashing is a different problem, and there are discussions all over this forum about different causes and solutions for crashes.

But even if you can get the game to not crash, you still have the problem of getting it to play decently. I'm not sure you can, with that graphics processor. But we can try.

Does it crash from the Launcher, or can you get the Launcher to come up and get to the Options screen?

First off Thank you I fully understood that analogy and better understand graphics prossesing now. Truely thank you. And yes it does give me the options but when i try to start game it crashes.

Just so you know the mopar 318 is itself a small block V8. Compairable to the ford 302. Infact they are almost the same block. the heads are alittle different in the fact that the ports are bigger on the 302 but you can actually modify a chrystler 318 head by shaving the belly of the head and putting ford rocker arms and rockers to make a ballistic missile of a small-block ford 302. It dispurses heat like a goose poops.

Clever. I love Mopar 318's. I had three pickups with them, regret selling the second, and still have the third. But I wouldn't race them against Chevy 350's :p

The Chevrolet small-block engine is a series of automobile V8 engines built of 3.48" and the smallest bore of any small-block, 3.500 in (88.9 x 88.4 mm).
The Chevrolet small-block engine is a series of automobile V8 engines built by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors using the same basic small (for a V8) engine block. Referred to as the Generation 1 small-block, it is different from "Generation II" LT and "Generation III" LS engines.

Production of the original began in 1955 with a displacement of 265 cu in (4.3 L), growing incrementally over time until reaching 400 cu in (6.6 L) in 1970. Several intermediate displacements appeared over the years, such as the 283 cu in (4.6 L) that was available with mechanical fuel injection, the 327 cu in (5.4 L) (5.3L), as well as the numerous 350 cu in (5.7 L) versions. Introduced as a performance engine in 1967, the 350 went on to be employed in both high- and low-output variants across the entire Chevrolet product line.

If you can enlighten me on computers I can give you the tools you need to overcome mechanical overload. Provided we can make arangements as to pictures being attached. I can tell you what's wrong with any american based power plant you have, what's compatable, and how to make your life easier working on it... I excell in auto restoration. My company Rod Knock Speed Shop is devoted to the past. if you can buy it I can make it slay the competition. I have gone as far as yanking the I-tech motor out of a (2000) Honda Prelude to make way for a 69' Chevelle 350. Tranny as well... (Ask and you shall recieve).

It should be playable, but not on high. What screen resolution are you using? Try on a lower setting, preferably something with a 16:9 ratio.

Its jerky at 1024x768 at 16.9 ratio on low, stops being jerky at the very lowest res, but is pretty much unplayable like that, mays well buy the xbox version...

For months I've installed and uninstalled the witcher 2 10 times

for some reason in open spaces the highest i get is 12 fps!

and up to 20 in closed places..

tried everything! lowest spec, disabling everything, lowering resolution until it looked like an 80s game!! uninstalling video card driver and installed the "fixed" one, running with windows default driver!!, disabling anti AA by force and still the EXACT same fps!!!!!

video card = XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition
processor = Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz
ram = 6gig
Windows 7 64

Any hope?

Thanks

laptop? if it works you're in luck, but no, your video card is waaaaaaaaaay lower than the minimum, and we can't add in software what your video card lacks in hardware :(

Everything else is fine. The GT 240 is known to be down among the graphics cards that will run the game, but not run it well. If you are not trying to run on a large screen, and you are tolerant of the occasional frame rate hit, you should be able to get low to medium out of it.

Often, when you have a sub-minimum graphics card like that, the game does better in windowed 1280x720 mode. (Set Fullscreen to Disabled and Resolution to 1280x720.) This may be the difference between having to play on Low and being able to play on Medium.

Thanks Guy N'wah. I have a big screen so thanks for the tip to play it in windowed mode.

Hey i was looking to get some upgrades for my CPU so i can at least run The wither 2 on lowest settings here are my specs:

AMD Athlon II x2 255 processor, 3100 Mhz, 2 core
ATI Radeon HD 5570
10 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 professional

Also, If i can run it now are there any settings that you could recommend to me? I've downloaded TW2 tweaker and played around with it but i still get an infernal in like 5 second intervals. It's really annoying and i would just get over it and play anyway but it really does make the game unplayable.

The CPU's not so big a problem as the GPU. I have the same GPU. It's good for a more or less playable frame rate at 1280x720, windowed, low settings. It can just barely make medium, if you're tolerant of some lags and more texture pop-ins.

I've played the game with a far less capable CPU (Athlon 64x2 5000+, downclocked to 2.0 GHz just to see if it would still play), the same GPU, and 2GB RAM. 1280x720, windowed (not full-screen), and low settings did the trick.

Another possibility, especially if that is a commercially manufactured computer (especially HP/Compaq or Acer/eMachines/Gateway), is that it is so loaded with manufacturer-installed crapware that it can't concentrate on running the game.

Thanks for the info. and nah i built it 2 years ago, the only problem is that i bought a bunch of parts at fry's electronic, threw them together and hoped for the best, it seems that i didn't mess up too much haha. what would you recommend i upgrade next my?

Also, i tried those setting and they work perfectly, the only problem is that i still get those lagg spikes, the game works perfectly until a few minutes in then it starts lagging every 3 secs. This is not the only game this happens do you think you may know why?

Hmmm... A periodic lag sounds like something else is going on, on the computer. Is there disk access associated with these lags? (you can tell by looking at the disk light; if it's flashing when lags occur, you can suspect some program is accessing the disk).

For this game, you would probably first want a GPU upgrade. From what you have, a large and probably satisfying step up would be to a 5770 or 6770, or an nVidia GTX 550Ti. Last time I priced them, the 550Ti was favorable. Unless you skimped on the power supply, you probably have enough juice for one of these already. If you want to go higher, you probably want a combination upgrade of the CPU (to a quad compatible with your motherboard), GPU, and power supply.

I have a number of computers that were Frankensteined out of parts from Fry's, Newegg, and oldies but goodies from eBay. Fun, isn't it?

Nah i checks and there is no blinking disk light. i have the game running on pause and its doing it it goes from 35 FPS to 11 every second really it just fluctuates up and down constantly. Also, i don't know if this will hep in any way but i hear a very faint sounds from my CPU every time the FPS starts coming back up, kinda like that stereotypical computer working sound.

Indeed it is. It can become quite addicting when you start researching the different combinations one can come up with and i seems to grow attached to certain pieces of hardware a bit too much. Only problem is that the lack of money turns the joy into torture.
but anyway i was thinking on buying this one, cheap and seems like a good leap forward

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161395&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-Video%20Cards-_-Hightech%20Information%20System%20Ltd.-_-14161395&AID=10440897&PID=3962334&SID=

i took a look at the 6770 and it seems like its a bit better than that one but will set me back an additional $25 and that is a substantial amount in my situation.
Oh and i have an MSI 870A-G54 motherboard shown below

Newegg has an XFX-made 6750 that is similar but has GDDR5 instead of DDR3. Part of the problem with the 5570 is it has the same 128-bit DDR3 memory configuration that the 6750 you linked does. GDDR5 is up to 2.5 times faster, and this significantly speeds up things like texture loading.

Only $10 more, but if you cash the rebate, it's $10 less than the card you selected:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150602

That motherboard will take any of the Phenom II CPUs up to 125W. These run as low as $100 for the 955 (Phenom II x4 3.2 GHz), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113007

I wonder if you're having some kind of power throttling going on. The CPU itself has nothing that can make noise. But fans changing speed with changes in CPU power can make interesting noises. See if you can disable the "Cool'n'Quiet" feature, and whether that makes a difference.
