Mixing lower and upper case letters does not make an argument cheap. How or why anybody would finish this game in 30 hours is simply beyond me. So it's shorter than Witcher 3. W3's content was insane and nowhere near "standard" even for an open world RPG. CP obviously posed very different challenges for the devs and concessions were made but there's still a TON of content in this game.

And 50 hours is not enough for an RPG anymore? Wow. You know, at your pace I'm guessing you could finish pretty much any Bethesda open world RPG in much less than that. Me personally, I never really bothered much with the main quests in those games because, unlike CP2077, the stories and characters SUCKED.
Disco Elysium, easily the best RPG released last year, took me 40 hours and I thought it was perfect. But I guess I must be confused. o_O

It is cheap because the speed of how quick you finish content doesn't reflect how long/much that content actually is. I could easily do 30 hour content in a 100 hour time period. But it's no fun for me because I lose interest by artificially stretching it out.
And to your question. I accidentally finished the game in 30 hours because I hated the plot with Jhonny and wanted to get rid of him so I could continue enjoying the open world content without him butting in and being reminded every hour that my character is dying. Little did I know that if I actually follow the story and stay in immersion, I will get less than 30 hour game. Unfortunately the endings and the way the game handles post story gameplay just completely ruined that playthrough for me. So much that for a whole week I couldn't even find motivation to touch the game again.

And no, 50 hours is nowhere near enough for an open world RPG imo. AndI don't understand why should I settles for less for my money when 150+ hours of gameplay can be clearly achieved for a AAA game.

Listen, just because you have low expectations, don't go around telling us that we just "play the game wrong".

Tbf my playthroughs last 30 -45h an i generally finish about lvl 30 with a SC of 50 which i find absolutely fine even for a OW game, theres still tons of side quests i've never done and probably never will unless they change how the worlds setup but again im absolutely fine with that, if once development has stopped for CP an all updates and dlc have been released a p'aythrough takes me anywhere between 60 -90 hours i'll be more than happy.

Grinding out side content aint my thing, never has been, if one of the best quests happens at lvl 50 i personally wouldn't care because i cant be bothered with grinding anymore, lvl 30 a gold place to stop for me then i just reroll

I don't get it. I'm 90-hours into my first playthrough, and prob only half way done with the main story.

Although, I usually walk and I never quick travel, ever! Sometimes I'll walk to my destination that maybe 1.5 or so klicks.

Witcher 3 wild hunt main story was 50 and half hours long. Main with extras 102 hours!

Cyberpunk after almost a decade working on the story main story is 19 hours main plus extra 48 hours. The main plus extras is shorter than witcher 3 main story lol.

That is absolutely pathetic dude. My source is how long to beat. Go see for yourself. Shame on you CDPR. All that dang hype for a 19 hour rpg story. Good god.

The game is unfinished. I've seen estimates that nearly 60% of the original content intended, never made it into the game. this could be corrected with future DLC. But since launch CDPR has actually decided to remove content since launch. I don't know what to think now. Other than I don't appreciate purchasing a product, then having that product changed without my consent after I've already paid for it.

It takes time and money to make a long branching narrative open world rpg life simulator.

Which it sounds like they had plenty of both.

I think this game was adapted to fit the lowest common denominator. Adding Keanu late into development hints at that being the case. It's a great interactive movie though.

They did say up front that they made the story shorter as so many people complained about/didn't complete the Witcher 3 story.

IGN article

Although all the articles about are dated late 2020, not sure why they waited so late in the day to say it.

Personally I think that's the wrong view to take, it's more likely it's the distraction of all the quests you can find in the open world that stops people from completing it, but of course if they put in less of those then people would complain the game overall is too short, i.e. you're never going to win so you might as well give those of us that can be bothered with completing the story a decent one.

Personally I tend to get bored around the 60-70 hour mark in an open world game and then focus on finishing off the story at that point.

Devs don't usually say anything at all unless they're interviewed and asked.

I just hope they reintroduce cut content at some point. With certain side missions it's pretty glaring.

That article sounds to me like a convenient excuse to me why they cut so much out of the story.

I personally enjoyed that the Witcher was so long. When I felt bored of the game I took a little break from it, knowing that when I pick it up, there will be still content in it I haven't seen even after months.

I don't understand people's logic who defend the lenght of this game. "Oh I haven't touched the actual story of the game in 40 hours because I was doing the copy paste side missions. The story isn't short!" Like yeah, if you gonna stop at every building to kill the mobs in it, obviously the game will take longer. But that still doesn't change that fact that the Witcher 3 is soooo much longer than cp77 if you play it the same way.

Also, why would we settle for shorter story? Like, why? The story clearly suffers from it because character development and events feel rushed, unnetural in quite a few places.

I'd rather have a longer story that I can take breaks from and continue in multiple sit downs than to have one short one that I can finish in literal one go.

And if the story is going to be so much shorter, then at least give us RPG choices that change the story so much differently. The witcher 3 did such an amazing job of giving us a long story with quite impactful player agency. In CP77 you have 1 story with different branchings for the endings that essentially all result the same way.
At this point I would settle for the way they did the Witcher 2. Split the story mid way and give us at least two stories to explore.

Looking at those three progress cards at the top of your menu, I was at 30% on the first card. Then I met Panam and played for a couple of hours. Then finally met up with Goro, the second time. All of a sudden it said 60%.

I still have no idea what those progress cards even mean.

On record though, Im now at the "point of no return" in regards to the main story, but been doing other stuff first. I sit at 100 hours exactly as of this morning. I try to get the full set of cyber, top street cred etc. Im NOT at max level yet.

We shall see what my hours are when I actually finish the game. For the record also, my AC Odyssey playthough sits currently at 165 hours and has plenty unfinished DLC remaining.

You have not paid attention to the interviews given in the past. The developers had to make the story shorter because users like you complained that the Witcher 3 story was too long. Now you complain it's too short... What do you want? im at 130+ hours and I didn't finish the story. If you rush a open word game, don't complain.

Shit I've got like 83 hours into it and I've still got most the gigs left, some of the NCPD stuff, and 45 - 10 - 10 for the main story stuff. Dunno how people are bum-rushing this game on the first playthrough.

Because the casuals couldn't finish Witcher 3, they decided to shorten the main story so everyone could have a chance to beat it
