XBone policies reversed

+
I can't, for the love of my life, understand why anyone would preorder a console right now.

As for the Xbox One, I liked some of the features they had in place. Family sharing, no need for disc after first install, and I was completely fine with the once every 24 hours check because my internet connection was and is stable enough to check at least ONCE. From the little information I had, I could share digital games with people I can choose. Share! Digital Games! Too bad Microsoft did not send a very good message about their console.

Pre-order on amazon does not require any sort of payment, even any advance like on Gamestop. It is just three clicks to place an order, and you can cancel at any time. They charge you only when they ship. Quantities may be limited, so I want to reserve mine while I still can. I sure love my consoles up to the point of being irrational, but I am OK with it.

I still haven't understand, how they recognize who plays the xbox each time. Even the family plan is a limited demonstration of the game. They said it. So how the xbox can recognize, that Its not me, the one who plays the game.. They scan the face with camera?

They will de-activate these features with day 1 update, but these features WILL remain in the console.. So its good everybody to know.

I believe the damage is done with them, but they will improve their sales.. Because they could keep this "kind" of features hidden, but their drm policies revealed them, popped them out. Its funny, everybody speaks about a spybox...

ps: The forum today have a problem? I get a strange message several times while I am trying to browse the forum. Only in this website.

The Kinect is still required and is still going to watch you... lol
I've got a simple solution for that... turn the objective into a blank wall if you're paranoid like I am. :)

I feel ya. I’ve got no idea what’s causing it though. Stuff like clearing my browser’s cache (Firefox v21.0, by the way) didn’t work.

They've walked back some of the crappy control freak actions (for now) they still hold the right to change their mind after the console is out. But they also still have the worse feature still included in the box the Kinetic will still spy on you, record you, data mine you. This change doesn't do anything to effect the systems overall participation in the PRISIM system they can sell the data collected from you to the people they chose.

You still also keep the rewards system for watching selective TV programs and commercials the kinetic is there to make sure you're paying attention (really they say this in their materials it makes sure you pay attention to get the prize!) this rewards system is done via achievements which unlock for the player costumes for their avatar or things they can use in the game like maybe 100 Gil for your Final Fantasy game after you've met the condition of watch this particular commercial or watch X amount of commercials, or watch the first series of TV show Y . They tell you what to do to get the achievement you do it that is data mining the system then records your reactions to these things for use with xbox, the commercial makers, and or the TV show makers so products, promos, and more can be made to tailor fit you and or to better improve their marketing you are in this instance an unpaid focus group they will then learn what your likes and dislikes are so they can make sure products, campaigns, and social issues are marketed to you to get a response in their favor or to get you to want to undertake an action.

You are not required to go on-line after initial set-up. After that you can play single-player games off-line forever. Even if a treacherous kinec demon is still watching you, he is not going to tell anybody that you are cooking meth in your bedroom. />/>/>/

You still can't turn it off the system won't work without it being plugged in and its still always on and listening even when you tell it to turn off. I've also seen articles that blocking the sensor or camera or otherwise trying to fool or harass it will cause your system not work. Maybe unplugging your system from the power unit could turn it off for good but that's an unknown.

How would people know that even though an option to turn it off is present, it is just a ruse??? Sounds like a regualr flaming b.s. to me. You know I also read a lot of articles about 24/7 state-wide satellite surveillance. To be honest I simply can't imagine why anybody would want to observe us when practically all of us lead pretty boring ordinary lives. Don't you guys give a bit too much credit to yourselves, or pretend to be much more significant that anyone would actually want to spy on you??? It would require a lot of man-power to record and process all these data. Who would even bother??? I understand spyware, automatically searching for certain words and phrases, but to listen to conversations in real time? Gimme a break.

You know the day any huge corporation like MS, or a government, start surveilling me and recording my conversation, I would feel as if I received a life time achievement award, because it would mean I made something significant, and deserved this kind of attention.

hopefully they will also rethink the aforementioned persistent kinnect sensor, if it is indeed true.

its not so much worrying about having to disguise that meth lab in the background, but it will certainly put a damper on the you porn with that thing winkin at you. no, that ^ thing.

however reading the ps4 console port of the witcher 3 wont be as groovy as the xbone one version also weighs in, especially if one considers its probably one of the few next, next gen games (that have been announced) to actually justify purchasing.

i can see it now. "oh no you didn't just dis CoD!"

What's the difference supposed to be between the XB1 and PS4 versions of TW3? Or where can I read about it if you don't want to outline it.

Yes the main thought is why the hell would anyone want to see my mundane boring life? but the answer to that is very complicated and very very long. To attempt to make it short and slightly more to the point (which isn't my strong suit anyhow) It's basically not what you are doing but how your entire daily routine can be used to someone else advantage the someone else is many and varied government, large cooperation, large hospitals, the long and short is control think China but on a larger and more dark route not quite North Korea in its in the light type of hard fist control more similar to China in the way of you do what the state and our approved friends tell you or x,y,z can be used. Chinese I knew got stalked and more because they got on the governments crap list and didn't stop what they were saying. It's not just about controlling what they don't want you to do its corralling you and nudging you into what they want you to do or like and this want changes depending on who is in power for the US for instance this system can not work when our President leaves office every two - four years you need a Castro someone in there for life. For us it would take a national emergency to by pass this election process and declare Marshall Law and conveniently never lift it.

We/others who have this view don't think they're important they know they aren't reality stars. The surveillance state a concept and a wish for many in power that must be known as it is ever a creeping thing there are so many...to many programs that once you look at them and place them side by side it's all one gigantic fence penning you in. Go read Nudge and Animal Spirits this'll help you out without my brain exploding! This want for total control of one's subjects is nothing new over the many thousands of years man has done this on their own kingdoms granted this was small scale its just never been so huge and can only lead to large problems to a degree no one can quite predict. Man will always seek to dominate his fellow man to his injury you see the pattern over and over again. Would it be great if all this spying lead to a utopia? Maybe but in every utopian society there are the losers and hard core at that utopians have proven they can't and never will lift up all in fact they tend to evenly make all the normal people poor and the governing bodies and their friends rich beyond their measure. Never ends well and it can't end well now.

But if you feel you should get a gold star for catching their attention you should start making that trophy right now email, cell phones, your cell/ipad/ect cameras, shopping habits if you use bonus cards, tweets, select gps devices, every google map search you've done, and come 2014 in the US your medical records will join it all this is all being filed away literally taking the knowledge is power to an extreme never before witnessed. The actual question would be not why do they want to spay on me/you? Its why the hell do they need this info in the first place?

They said it would learn who was in the family. I would guess it goes like this if your screen name is colajunky and your sisters screen name is decapitator you will only play under your own profile so over time the sensor will associate you with that screen name it won't know your real name but your face will be mapped the technology exists already for this face mapping is one but there is also the common facial recognition software either one would work for this type of action. So if you suddenly play under decapitator the system may freak out and say you aren't her pay a fee or maybe it'll just go HEY! you're colajunky get off her profile! Who really knows I haven't found anything on what happens if you play on someone else profile and you aren't them. I assume this is again to prevent free loaders like your friends form playing as you while you're at work. MS seems to be very much saying they don't like free loaders pre 180 news.

I have found info though on the fee of if you exceed x amount of people in the viewing area of the kinetic and as far as I know this still holds. I believe I saw a counts stating 10 people were allowed in sensor range but if you get an 11th fee time this would only work for the super bowl and they did say that was a possibility for an achievement sometype of friends achievement that you get again a prize for.

Retinal sensing and scanning are actively being prosude in many places as of late there are games for the i-items that are being tested to have players mentally do the tasks not sure how this is working I doubt its reading the users mind more like eye movement. But heat, heart rate, eye movement, night vision? This isn't anything useful for a gamer just companies of course I'm at a lost for the night vision thing that to me makes zero sense of all this but I'm sure there is a reason for adding it.

Found an article on some kinetic functions link the article was written just before the few turn arounds happened but like said the kinetic items are still in full retard mode.

Maybe I am missing something, but since it can now work offline, isn't that the same?

I think it depends on your level of trust in the system. Firstly, is it really switched off? Secondly, even if it's offline, is it storing data to be transmitted the next time you go online?

Personally, I think that it's probably safe, not because I trust, but because in both cases, a tech-savvy owner will find out without much difficulty, and when they do, there really WOULD be an uproar.

But after the news of the last week or so, in conjunction with those cases last year about rented laptops monitoring their renters, I can also understand why people would be reluctant to place any trust in this machine.

And you've got to admit, the whole concept is creepy. Even though, at a rational level, I think it's probably safe, I still wouldn't want it in MY house.

If it were me, I would just physically disconnect the internet, if I was that suspicious....

If that gimps the system, them MS has some explaining to do.
