Not really, black raven hair has blue or white reflects under sunlight. That hair which presents brown reflection is because there are not enterily black but the darkness brown tone.

There is a continuum of brown and black hair, and the shade that shows blue-black like a raven's feathers in strong light is either extremely rare or artificial. Most human hair called "raven" is not that color, but rather a very dark brown that we do not distinguish from black. The iridescence that creates this color in a raven's feathers is not a physical feature of human hair. Yennefer's hair is still not black enough.

I would of liked red hair because I have a thing for those, but we already have a red hair main character (so to speak) in Triss so black hair it is then!

The black hair of Yen is no the usual black hair but a very exceptional raven black hair. That's is what I mean and always thought what Spakowski means, to me, as for the white hair for Geralt. Raven black is perfectly natural but just awsome like awsome is the woman who Geralt falls in love with. Yennefer's look is not at all NORMAL one of the reason Geralt falls in love with her..

A-mazing.

Second...meh. It's CDPR's interpretation of a novel series. They want her to be dark-brown instead of black, (no idea why...looks better in the renderer, maybe?), I don't care.

This could be the reason. The lecturer of the 3D Modelling course, I had last semester, said that true black is horrible for ligthing and shading purposes.

I don't desagree but why La Valette hair looks black in TW2 and Yen's hair look brown in TW3 with higher technologies?

It depends on the current light situation and used shaders. As is said true black RGB(0, 0, 0) is bad cause 0 times something is always 0. And for other reasons. So mustly a very darg grey or brown is choosen. And depending on how much light is in the scene it seems to be black or as on Yen in the sun, a bit brownish.

The whole hair? What happens with shadows? why shadows aren't black?

No, sorry, afters years working among colors, tints, photografy, lights etc, etc, THIS brown colored hair in the frame doesn't convince me. I mean, I've worked more than once with black hair and other color hairs and natural/artificial lights so.... no, sorry

Maybe in the real context of the game and my PC system....

Ah, well Marcin did say it is going to be black, so no point to argue over it. I do agree with witchat though, Yennefer's hair on the ship are definitely more brown than black, it can't be just the lighting.

Dark brown looks better. Not everything needs to be 100% like in the books. I hope CD Projekt RED doesn't change her. She is perfect like this.

Pardon me if this has been mentioned already, I searched the thread but nothing came up.

But isn't this the same issue as it was with Ciri's hair colour? We have one shot of each character, and in both there is a particularly strong sunshine lighting. I would definitely like to see more of Yennefer in gameplay videos before ruling this out, but true, it looks more brown than black in the video.

EDIT: Yes, I see now that sunlight has already been mentioned.

Yeah, but yet it looks way too brown for that.

It is one of her trademarks. She isn't the "most of the time it looks black, but it can also look brown sometimes"-haired woman.

Where do you get that from?

I think at last she is the women CDPR makes her.
If they think this looks better in the game, the surely have a reason for it.

IF it is really brown (and just "IF", I am quite sure it isn't, as said), I strongly believe they have tested black already and got a good reason to choose this one.
I won't dare to think that I know it better :p

Had a cat once, she was black and in very bright sunlight her fur would look chocolate brown. I think it's normal :D

There's specific genetic and medical reasons why black cats can look reddish. The usual reason in cats is because of a recessive red-fur gene, but in humans, it tends not have the same effect, otherwise there's be more calico humans around :)

That it is her trademark? Well, i quoted some sentences from the books in another post:

Kallelinski said:
hehe

'Beau?' the abundance of black locks asked indistinctly. 'Have you brought the juice?'
'Yes.'
A pale triangular face, violet eyes and narrow, slightly contorted lips appeared beneath the black tresses.

'Who are you?' asked the black-haired woman, narrowing her eyes and covering herself with the eiderdown.

He took a deliberately long time fastening her dress, one hook at a time, enjoying the scent of her hair, which fell halfway down her back in a black cascade.

But I do remember quite a pretty, black-haired female with fiery eyes—'
'What are you telling me about black-haired women for?'

The black-haired woman didn't let me get a word in edgeways.

So beautiful, he thought. Everything about her is beautiful. And dangerous. The colours she wears; the contrast of black and white. Beauty and terror. Her natural, raven curls.

He stroked the raven-black hair that fell in curls like snakes.

Yennefer shook her head, her black, shimmering curls cascaded onto her shoulders.

Essi's hair is not a black tornado of shiny curls;

Through the clouds of smoke, violet eyes, dark, burning in a pale and triangular face veiled beneath a tangle of black curls, watching.

I think it is black :p

Her black hair is mentioned over and over again, it's just like her scent of lilac and gooseberries or wearing always black and white or her violet eyes or... well, i guess you get what i mean :)

I also think that brown would look too normal for a character like her, but we already got the confirmation that her hair is indeed black, so that isn't really the issue anymore, but what does that mean, if her hair still appears to be brown in certain situations?

It also contradicts the image of a "perfect looking" sorceress, which every sorceress cares for. Even in the worst situations all of them look good. they always dress with the most expensive clothes and wear expensive accessories, even Philippa looked great despite her condition.

So it's not just a hair colour, it's about an image.

I disagree. Raven black hair would look far better.
This particular thing needs to be like in the books. I can accept what they did to Triss, but not Yennefer please.
