You said PC version would support DS4 controller

You said on Twitter that the PC version would support the Dualshock4 controller, and yet it doesn't. Will you be giving me a refund so I can buy the PS4 version instead?

It does support the DS4, but with a third party application like DS4Windows. I think there might have been some confusion about native support.

And I think you're better off with the PC version and playing with DS4 than the PS4 version because you can manually set up for quick casting signs on the PC. It's a much more fluid way to enjoy the combat than playing on the PS4.

Which is why I bought it for PC.

But the problem here is that they said that the controller would be supported by the game. They didn't say we would need to jump hoops to make it work. All they had to do was to add DirectInput support in addition to XInput, like many other PC games have.

Also, I tried DS4Windows but it doesn't work. I have to map it to XInput which will make the icons in the game show up as Xbox icons. Pretty poor "support" if you ask me.

I had no issues with DS4Windows. Alternatively, you might want to try InputMapper.

Regardless, you bought the best version of the game, so no issues here. You'll get used to the Xbox button labels.

It doesn't make economical sense to have native support for DS4 as the people who use DS4 will be minimum.

If you play on PC; Xbox360/X1 & compatible controller is the way to go. Plug & play in just about any game. No extra configuration need. You can get a 360 controller on a cheap these days. Its worth the small investment to save any drama on PC games. I have a PS4, but I would never use it on PC:

The XBOX controller has been the standard for PC gaming for a while, & its worth the small investment than try to save a few bucks to use the DS4. I can understand if one said they like the PS4 layout, but honestly, it wasn't that much different for the 360 controller. Its notthing you cannot get used to, & witin hours, even minutes.

I was a 360 gamer, but it took like 10 mins to get used to the DS4.

If you can't get your controller running on your PC the way you want, it's your fault.
Sorry to say that.

The problem isn't the game, it's Windows. There's no official support for the DS4 controller, even if you connect it as a generic wired/bluetooth controller, Windows can't tell the difference between a DS4 or a generic controller.

I play with a DS4 and Input Mapper, works like a charm. And Xbox icons don't bother me.

Sony does not provide official drivers for DS4 on Windows, so project red isn't really at fault here. For what its worth, Input Mapper works quite well, and so does that xbone controller, I have trouble noticing any differences in gameplay, but I do prefer the DS4 layout.

The drivers have nothing to do with this. Those drivers make Windows (not the game) recognize the device. Even if there were official Windows drivers (the unofficial ones are fine), the game would still need to have DirectInput support (something they said it would have when they made that Twitter post).

Aside from your lack of comprehending how drivers actually play into this, this is about the devs saying one thing and then not doing it. All this fanboy apologist stuff isn't needed.

You are making so many assumptions here. I have both controllers. I am not "saving a few bucks" by preferring a DS4. I simply want it to work like it was promised.

They already had to create button icons for the PS4 version. Why not make them available to PC?

All in all, you guys aren't understanding the issue at hand: being sold on a product and finding out it was a lie. Judging by your responses, I see that you don't understand that logic. The post is more for CDPR to see if they are willing to follow up on their promise.

you must have done something wrong, DS4windows work perfectly fine, you literally have to do nothing, plug your DS4 start DS4windows load the driver and thats it, nothing to configure nothing to thinker , you can even make DS4windows load the driver automatically every time you plug the controller

tried it day1 worked fine

I'm using InputMapper to play The Witcher 2 with my DS4 at the moment, though I know your point is more about them breaking their promise. To be fair, I can only find anything official about this in a single Twitter post made one year ago, so it's not exactly like it was a major feature touted in all promotional materials about the game, and technically it does support DS4, which is all that was claimed on Twitter. Hopefully someone will make a mod to put the Playstation buttons on-screen rather than the Xbox ones, and it'd be nice if someone would do that for TW2 as well, while we're talking about this.

Then should be pretty easy for you to play with the "wrong" button icons, because the controller itself works magnificently, just use Input Mapper 'cause it takes 5min to setup. You're making such a fuss about something so incredibly trivial.
