Sounds like we need a thread, such as Suggest a Game, were we could all step into a a library-like setting and ask the experts for some golden info. There a lot of people here, who like me, were knee high to a grasshopper and just learning to read when these bad boys were made.

We have a thread to discuss classic RPG's. Feel free to drop by if you need advise or if you want to share your experience playing a cRPG from the golden age. Lots of info about these games too, but beware of heavy spoilers.

Excellent!

And what the heck, lets here it for yet another great moment in video gaming:

The very beginning in Mass Effect when you get your first chance to explore the citadel and meet the Elcor and Volus. I was completely blind to the game. I had just finished the Witcher 2 and didn't expect a game that could compare for quite some time. I was absolutely blown away by the Citadels scale and once again found myself just as lost as I was in Vergan, only this time I didn't care. I was as memorized as a dachshund staring a plate full of steak.

I'd love to play with you, but that may be impossible if you join a NA server. GW2 is awesome, but very different from GW1.

Completing crash team racing on the ps1. That was possibly the best game ever.

Of those that i could remember at the top of my head:

Final fantasy: there are so many but If i had to choose 1, i'd pick the opera sequence of FF6. others i really liked were: the beginning of FF6, when shadow rescues you in ff6 in the floating island, the ending of FFX, the big school battle of FF8, the beginning of FF12, the big reveal in FF7 that cloud was that random soldier and that he defeated sephiroth.

Chrono trigger: When you enter the future world and see all the devastation. frog's flashback and he splitting the mountain.

Suikoden2: the massacres sequences of luca blight is my top spot, when you finally kill him is a close second, in general the whole back and forth between the 2 armies was awesome in that game. also gremio's death and queen arshtat and ferid's death in S5 were also memorable.

When glados betrays you and then when you escape her grasp and hear her freak out.

The ending of Shadow of colossus and battling all those colossus in general.

The final fight with ganon in windwaker.

the mecha fight in MTGS4

The destruction of Karak in Homeworld

Silent hill 3: there was a sequence in that game that really freaked me out. it was in the hellish dimension and i saw in a bathroom as something in the reflection of the mirror starts to crawl up me but not in my real character them when it consumes my reflection it starts to attack me and the whole room goes dark. that shit just freacked me the fuck up.

Losing for the first time in the original XCOM

The ending sequence in oblivion.

There's no gaming experience that can ever match up to when the community fight injustice and help each other as well as other people in need... And I'm honestly surprised no one has mentioned that.

From the massive protest against Mass Effects 3 ending to Diablo 3 and Simcity's horrible launch which even resulted in Blizzard forcing refunds in Korea and EA offering free games, to the success we have had on Kickstarter supporting so many awesome games to take place and the share amount of recognition we have accomplished with E-Sports... Not to mention how we continue to be active against US absurd thought on violence and video games and the people from all over the world to unite against SOPA and Poland as a sole member of EU manage to crush ACTA ever taking place. We have created jobs for oh so many developers and even helped them to fulfill their dreams by supporting them in thick and thin.

And if all that's not enough we have even managed to cause Ubisoft to get a slightly easier grip on their absurd always on DRM, the impact we, the consumer have made on CD RED to make one of the best RPG by today even better, our support to charities which only would have happened thanks to the gaming community supporting each other and helping out our fellow gamers in need which for example let the Dignitas team manager to get the costs made for the fire his family suffered close to Christmas to be funded.

No single gaming experience can ever accomplish all that, and that's is why all these moments are my favorite moments when we are talking about video gaming and what it can accomplish.

The more common Sensory Stones from Torment also rank right up there for me, whether it's an arcane fleet of flying ships pounding a continent into non existence, a naked man shivering in delight as he awaits the transformation of a Were in the deep forest, a desperate wrestle at the lip of a lava pit and the realisation that your opponent is stronger, a killers psychotic glee as he slowly pushes his knife into an eyeball or the slow realisation that your cherished palette has enslaved you to a monsters whims. They are refreshingly original, beautifully written, daring in scope and enjoyable as all hell, they showcase the simple power of good prose and could not be made in any 3d engine without decades of work and a budget of billions.

Mine was when Genetic Species launched on the Amiga; jawdropping graphics at the time, spent many hours with my brother on that game!

When I was a kid, this was pure epicness

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAOMvCI1vOE from 5:40 especially.

Also, the time Letho offers Geralt a drink in Loc Muine.
All of Geralt's flashbacks give me the chills, as well as the dialogue with Cedric and Ciaran.
Mordin's death in ME3, I was just waiting for someone to write that! I got bound to his as a char so it was tough to take in.
In ME3 when I got to beat the shit out of that reporter chick for throwing blame my way. In the end, when I killed The Illusive man too.
Gothic 1 & 2 were epic all the way. Now I like choice oriented games, and some newer games like TW have better characterization.
The scene in Two Worlds 2 when Reesa goes away.

I guess that this really isn't a "moment". But the whole of Amnesia:TDD, What incredible atmosphere. It was the first and only game to invoke true fear for me. A revelation.

Yeah, Mordin´s death is a tough one, definitely. For all the suckiness of its ending, ME3 has a quite a few memorable moments. A couple more that come to my mind are:
- The end of the Tuchanka mission. Very epic.
- When you go alone to face the Reaper on Rannoch, and you are in a relationship with Tali. A really moving moment...
On a side note: if the famous "indoctrination theory" had turned out to be true, then THAT would have been a great candidate for my favorite moment in video gaming.

And another great moment that I just remembered: the end of Arkham City. That Joker really got to me (Mark Hamill rocks!).

DAO had really good music...

Best moment in gaming? ... One thing that comes to mind is Mech Warrior II (back in the 90s), when I got the enemy mechs to blow up the power plant they were defending (by repeatedly dodging their fire with the plant behind me) and then having them get killed by the resulting meltdown while I ran away. It's not the way you're supposed to beat that mission, so it gave me a really good laugh when I pulled it off.
