Yeah we need to hear and see more.

General feeling I got is mix of great stuff like using enviroment, how surroundings react with signs, big enemy variety, crossbow if tweaked a little bit etc.

But there are also some bad things like for example: dismemberment.I like it.I love it in fact. They have maybe slightly overdone it but still it looks awesome. What I don't like about it ? It doesnt feel satisfactory.

Let me explain.Geralt chopping of bandit's arm when he is unconscious or stunned or by using that VATS system they unfortunately dropped feels great because you had to work in order to achieve that.

But him just slicing them with their health bar half full feels like AC to me.Just..press x,y,z for swag and awesooooome.

He should more you know parry, block do piruets (like you could jump over bandits and smaller enemies like drowners for example in Witcher 1) do that kind of stuff.

Plus I think that VATS system which was suposed to be optional really sounded deep and awesome as you had to know what was weak spot of the monster and use specifing oil or whatever to attack that spot and then monster wouldn't be able to use special attacks or see etc..

I dunno. As much as I hate Rock,Paper,Shotgun they were right when it comes to combat.I hope it has more variety and many options so that casuals can avoid them or use them on easy difficulty and other can really take advantage of them on higher difficulties.

Dragon Age : Inqusition with it's different body parts attacks when it comes to dragons is something very nice and I was pleasantly suprised.I just expected.....more from Witcher (when it comes to gameplay, everything else blew me away but gameplay is half of game).

I think Geralt's abilities and weapons were upgraded for the demo, hence the Igni's/Yrden's huge area of effect, shooting three bolts, etc.

As for the overall combat, I think it looked cool, more wicked and agile. The fights seemed a lot more witchery than in TW2. I like the new effects for the signs, heck I even liked when Geralt shot the Gryphon in the face with the C.bow when it was about to dive on him. Of course, how the combat plays, that's a different matter...we'll only know once we have tried it out ourselves.

On a side note: I was thinking about a flashy (maybe even silly) kind of finsiher. Now that we can blow Aard continously, it would be cool to hold back an enemy with it, and while he was trying to crawl closer, we would suddenly release the sign and the he'd 'fall on' Geralt's sword (or maybe just simply on the ground). Geralt used this against the Striga in TW1's intro.

I kind of agree, what's there (and what we've seen) looks good, but it might turn out to be boring if we have to do it for 100+ hours throughout the game. That 'vulnerable body part' system would have probably made TW3 a better game, but it would've also increase the time and costs of the development significantly, so we could only play the game in 2016 at earliest (or not at all).

Realistic and Complex Combat Effects

The Dismemberment is great, however we need to go a bit further and give this a bit of direction rather that just going all BloodRayne and dismember everything in game.

I want realistic effects. Examples:

+ Burn Effects - Different levels of burn effects, blacken the skin, and on higher levels of igni, it melts the skin off the flesh. and in case of mages the default is disintegrating the flesh off the bones with their fire spells. Geralt should achieve this by the constant applying of igni in stream effect.

+ Broken Limbs - Using Ard, should brake limbs, bending them backwards, such as breaking the hands and arms of unarmored thugs and effectively disarm this. this has a small chance of happening such as instant death with sword attacks.

+ Frozen Effects - using spells or bombs or traps that freeze should let you break pieces of armor.

+ Puncture Effects - arrows should have a chance to puncture the body and create bleeding effects.

Combos should also help or hinder each other:

Frost and fire should disable each other.
while oil and fire should in turn double the effects and duration.
poison effects should also get doubled if the enemy is bleeding or punctured.
and such.

thoughts?

I dont remember any bombs or signs that allow Geralt to freeze its opponent. Other than that the effects you talk about are all present in TW2 so I expect they are only gonna be more improved and refined in TW3 :)

Edit: I did forget broken limbs which is not in TW2. I d like to see CD Projekt do something like a sword + fist combination for more animation variations, and add the effect there.

There is a trap that does that. and Arrd could be enhanced to freeeze enemies, there was also a sword that could do that.

Also, the witcher 2 did not include full burn, i mean when somone dies of burning he does not turn brown chocolate. I only see fires that go away. after a set amount of time.

Good points :) I also just remember that critical effects mutagen can do that too. However I am having a hard time recalling any enhancement in Aard sign that can freeze people... I could be very wrong though :p

Winter solstice was I believe. You meditated at a special location in chapter 3 and it gave you an enhancement of the Arrd.

I remember reading that Geralt would have a different stance depending on the toughness of the opponent(s) he was about to face. So for example, if it's a weak opponent Geralt will have a more relaxed stance than when he's fighting a tougher one. I thought it was a really cool feature, anyone knows if it's still in?
