How can anybody support Nilfgaard.....
Let's not forget Nilfgaard and in particular their emperor are responsible
for the death of Ciri's mother and grandmother. Because of them her country was destroyed and she lost her home, friends and whole family. They are co-responsible for all the shit she went through, from the moment their armies invaded Cintra.
Furthermore they are trying to conquer the North for the 3rd time, brining chaos, destruction and sorrow to the people. I don't want to know how many innocent people died in all these wars with Nilfgaard .
My Geralt won't do anything, which could help Nilfgaard. His main goal was be to protect his loved ones, but whenever it's possible and doesn't distract him too mcuh from his main goal he will support the North against the Nilfgaardian invader.

Which also brings prosperity to the Empire's people. This is just what empires and rulers do. Besides, how is this any different to Henselt fighting for Aedirn all the time? I'm pretty sure most people here can agree that Henselt is a good goddamn king, even if he's kind of a shit. The country's people live better lives because of their rulers' aggression.

And as far as responsibilities go:
Are you also going to judge Yen for all the shit that happened to Ciri in the last 3 books? After all, she caused it all, by trying to use Ciri at Thanedd.

After one the last gameplay trailer I saw...
Where we can see Geralt having to choose between denoncing a member of the temerian resistance to the nearest nilfgaardian camp, stay out of it by denying him thesupplies he tried to steal or let him go scott free with his loot.
I think there will be a strong parallele between the nordling resistance in The Witcher 3 and the scoia'tel rebels in The Witcher 1. Both are fighting to reclaim the land they've lost and both are reduced to use guerilla tactics to get what they need and want. What is interesting with that choice is the fact that a lot of us (more or less) understood the cause of the Squirrels in The Witcher 1 despite not aggreeing with their actions or aiding them to achieve their goals.
But now in the third installement, the new token terrorists in the new Nilfgaardian claimed Temeria will be the very same people we choose to defend from the scoia'tel two games prior. I have also the feeling that someone like Roche might be leading them, as Iorverth said : the special forces are the northern version of the scoia'tel. It would be ironic to someone lke Roche to end up becoming the exact same kind of criminal he fought all his life, because I don't think this new resistance will have better methods than the nilfgaardian army they are curently fighting. While the empire will try to endoctrinate the population to their cause, the resistance might as well concentrate their hate on those civilian "collaborateur", by judging them or torturing them, dirtying their hands in the process, a thing that the special forces and the scoia'tel were more than willing to.
To conclude, what makes this change interesting is now in the eyes of the player : are you now willing to aid criminals and terrorists because they have rightful claims that you can understand ? Will you feel some kind of hypocrite to aid them despite the manner you treated their squirrel predecessor ? Will their goal even be achievable ? Will it be worth it ?

Damn, these games are good !

This is certainly an interesting comparison, especially considering that we probably won't see a lot of squirrels in W3.

I think the main difference will be that Temerians are fighting for something actually real. Squirrels are the definition of useless. They kill civilians thinking that it will, somehow, restore their freedom. They let others use them, as long as that lets them kill some more humans. No one even cares to remember how it all began. Iorveth might be the only elf who tried to do something, yet even his private army ends up being used by everyone in power.
Some Temerians will definitely end up using the old tactics of squirrels, but fighting the invaders is a pretty good cause. Would be rather amusing if it'll lead to Broche and Iorveth teaming up to fight a common enemy.

As for your question... Aside from checking out Iorveth's path, I never sided with the scoia'tael, seeing as how the only good elf is a dead elf. I might be a little biased, but I don't think that Temerians are the exact same thing, at least not yet. It's not that hypocritical. Then again, I'm not planning on fully committing to them either.

Well

In my eyes she didn't try to use her but wanted to clear up the situation, at least if I understood it correctly. She listened to the advise of her friend (the one who killed herself, can never remember her name) who said it might help to bring Ciri along. She also wanted to send Ciri to Aretuza, which was a good idea IMO sine she clearly needed to learn how to use magic correctly, but as we all know that didn't work out so well

I mean no one could have really known that all this shit went down there, at least not to the EXTEND it went down in the end.

Foltest, Demavend and Stennis (on Roche's path) are deader than hella dead. Henselt and Saskia can be killed. Radovid is basically asking for it now. I never really noticed it, but you can get rid of pretty much every ruler of note. That's all of the major Northern kings, aside from Meve. Who's going to rule in the North by the time The White Flame Dancing on The Barrows of His Enemies is done wrecking everything?

Almost makes me want to do a proper Nilfgaard shill playthrough, to see if the game will somehow acknowledge it.

What's the Nilfgaard empire stand on non-humans ?
I'll try not to get involved in Politics/Wars though, when possible.

The same as everyone else. Supported when they are convenient.

Who will rule? What if...Emhyr sacrifices his life to save Ciri from the Wild Hunt? Or maybe on your path you fell for Yennefer, and Triss does? Or you fell for Yennefer and CDPR decided *she* does? Oh the ways this could end up sad.
