Highlights from the Path: Handmade

Welcome to the second week of Highlights from the Path, where we celebrate the anniversaries of The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3, but also our community’s creations! This time we wanted to focus on your handmade works:

Artworks treated with Igni — they’re created with pyrography technique, which is burning the design onto the wood. Wow!

Glamarye is a magical substance used by sorceresses to emphasize their beauty. And now, you can wear it too! Lilac and gooseberries for Yennefer, cinnamon and muskroot for Philippa, cedar and elderflower for Ciri, and more...

9. Falauke (Poland)

No need to be afraid of the Leshen. Well, at least not these ones.

That’s hardly all of them, you keep surprising us with your skills and creativity! Splendid! These are the sort of items I've enjoyed seeing most, over the years -- hand-crafted pieces. I especially like the dice poker set, naturally, and the maps. Although, I'm mildly surprised none of the custom wooden Gwent boards made the list.

I recognize one of those other food items (top middle one) as well, because it's this and I also tried making it myself back then.

The fire art sounds really interesting and cool. Never heard of such a technique before.

The fire art sounds really interesting and cool. Never heard of such a technique before.

It's also called wood-burning, unless I'm mistaken. One method is done with an electrically heated stylus. It's important to use a soft, straight-grained wood, otherwise, the designs can go awry. My mother creates pieces of artwork using this technique -- naught Witcher-related, unfortunately.

Spoiler: A Couple Examples

The one on the lower left is a line from the Old English lament Deor. The upper is an -- incomplete -- fanciful crest from a story of mine.
