danielshihab This mod sound and looks fantastic, is there big performance drop with it ? Or are you able to make them minimal :) Is it better in this regard then lod mod on nexus ?

With God nothing shall be impossible, but you still won't be able to travel to it, its purely for looks. Riven is right, it does look a bit like a mole hill haha. But if I can work out the kinks I'll focus on making it look like a real mountain :)

Haven't even thought of going there :) Purely from aesthetic point of view it looks cool - gives Novigrad a whole new level of greatness.

Mishikedman I'll be honest, I haven't really noticed a significant performance loss with it. That's probably because I'm capped at 30 fps but I'll do some testing on it in the morning and get some real numbers. I'm expecting no more than a 5 frame drop, then again the mod isn't complete yet. So no telling what exactly will happen. On the bright side though, by the time I'm finished Nvidia will have released a new line of gpus lol. VedmakOfOld the mountain is nice, but what I'm looking forward to is completing Novigrads lod so that modders can create simple texture mods to completly change the atmosphere of Novigrad.

Olddddd the difference between my mod and the one on the nexus is that buildings will lose little to no quality no matter what distance you are from them. Lots of the buildings in witcher use whats called a proxy mesh which is a very low quality model with a very low quality texture. I'm rebuilding the proxies with high quality assets already used in the game. With my mod you'll even be able to make texture mods that will alter the way buildings look from any distance
That sounds great! Keep up the good work!

I think it's GREAT idea and I hope you will rework all of the proxy meshes and we will got brilliant high quality Novigrad :D

Wow, this looks like it is going to be one of those must-have mods! The screenshots you posted so far look very impressive! Are you going to do the proxy meshes for the entire game? Much looking forward to it!

@danielshihab its obviously ideal to have as little performance cost as possible but I think with a mod like this which focuses on visual fidelity the priority should be getting the best visuals with performance an afterthought (to an extent).

When making mods that drastically improve the games's graphics it's only natural that it will have some sort of performance impact so i wouldn't let that stop you from trying to make it as good looking as you can... Good luck with the project i think you're onto something here :)

Mishikedman I just did a performance test to see how the frames drop. GTX 1070 ultra settings at 2560x1440 Im getting between 50-55 frames with the mod off and between 45-50 frames with the mod on. That frame rate test was done viewing the entire city from a distance, you should get less frame drop when actually in the city. Here's a link to some more pictures I mentioned I would share http://imgur.com/a/cXV7S I make up for the frame drop by bringing back the e3 tower at the entrance to novigrad lol. The bricks are a different color but I'll address that Issue later.

MrMoonshoes You're absolutely right about what to expect when making a mod that improves visuals. Performance drops are expected and Gpu's are only getting better, I wont let optimization hold the mod back, but I will try to be smart and not throw in unneeded geometry. Btw your Clams Casino avatar just earned you a Redpoint :)

Awesome! It looks even better than the "Unoptimized Wall" Mod!

Did you change anything else except Castle Wall, Mountain and LOD?

Kayhan2000 Thanks. When I made the unoptimized wall mod, I did it by creating my own bricks but I'm not a very good modeler. Its much better to just use what's already there. I changed plenty of stuff, I don't want anyone holding their breath for this mod though. I'm going to try and get it to you guys as soon as I can but I have to start all over because as I mentioned in another thread. All my files are screwed, this is an unfinished version that I happened to have saved on my google drive. Unfortunately all my other files came back corrupt so I have to start from the beginning again. Heres a list of what was completed before everything got ruined.

All the castle walls, gates, and towers

Temple of Ethernal Fire

Golden sturgeon

Crematorioum

The majority of port warehouses

All the poor inns

All the poor houses

Some bridges in the city

All the poor outhouses

There was still a lot of work to be done in the Rich district which I hadn't touched as well as unique building like the brothels.
