E3 2020 & Gamescom: Third Demo Suggestion

+
I don't expect anything super substantial for this E3, since apparently they still didn't decide on their plans regarding what it's going to be shown on this event. As I said in another thread, I fully expect hands on event to occur before E3 (in April or May), which would mean that Expo will be more likely an extension of that, allowing the attendees to play the same demo that journalists will play as part of the hands on event. Other then that, during the Microsoft conference they will probably show a new trailer for the game (either CGI Night To Remember style trailer or something akin to Launch Trailer showcasing the major features of the game), they will announce that The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 will be backward compatible for the new consoles (possibly with announcement of free visual update for new consoles) combined with a reveal of a post release free DLC program and the story expansions for Cyberpunk that will come out in 2021.

Great thread idea. We've all talked about this in individual chats before but its good to collect everything.

Here's my wishlist:
  • Uninterrupted gameplay. If it must be interrupted, don't mess with the chronological order, and please don't cut literally every 5-8 seconds. Give us at least a minute every now and then to see what's happening.
  • Time frame doesn't matter too much. Could be 10 minutes, could be 30 minutes, could be more... I don't care. Just uninterrupted.
  • Preferably a full mission, a short one if necessary. Ideally not a main mission.
  • Night time. Rain. Acid or otherwise, either way is fine.
  • TECHIE GAMEPLAY! Please. Prove to us it's actually a distinct playstyle and not supplementary. What is their niche?
  • Doesn't have to be City Center IMO, but a "Dense" part of the city, absolutely. Westbrook or City Center, or heck even a different part of Watson.
  • Show us this interactive scene system for the first time ever. No, picking dialogue options so far doesn't really count. I want to see the "Look at part of the environment and comment on it to affect the conversation" stuff. Unless that's been scrapped?

night trailer for me, thank you:howdy:

Not a surprise to anyone, but I’d want to see a ”gameplay explained, why this is an RPG and how did we adhere to the CP2020 rules” -type of video.

There’s been a lot of concern over CP2077 being a shooter. We’ve heard the concern and in this video we’re going to give you a glimpse on what to expect from our gameplay that will hopefully answer some of your concerns. Our intent is and has been to create a top notch RPG and that is what we’re doing still. It is not a shooter with RPG elements, but the opposite, so without a further ado, let’s get diwn to business. Things are still being tweaked as playtesting furthers, but the baseline that you’ll see will stay intact.
...
This is a character with low level on gun skill X shooting with gun Y. See how it works?
...
This is the sane character with high skill. See what it does to accuracy? See what it does to reload speed?
...
Here’s the same comparison with a smart gun.
...
This is how BODY and REF affect V’s movement. See how with clever stat allocation you can greatly affect what all ways your V can traverse the environment at different speeds, carryweights and jump distances.
...
Here’s how skills X, Y and Z let you interact with the world and the various minigames. See how different skill levels make interactions different?
...
This is what difficulty settings do. See the difference?
...
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. The rest we’ll leave for you to discover and figure out
.”

Wishful thinking, surely, like my whole post history, but that stuff would actually give an idea of the game. Aesthetic showcases about night time, vehicles, fashion, weaponsets, etc. are nothing but pointlessness.

Even if it is not a grand release video, what I want to see is a detailed RPG mechanics video, which would effectivement show everything that have just been told (or not) without actual examples, so we're not left with just interpretable material only.

For example a character creation where we can actually see how stats are described, how precisely the gender thing is implemented (for example is "body type" actually change both size and sex or are the two separate things?) . Also see examples of how stats affect the character besides being skill limits. And so on.

I don't want to wait until E3 to see more gameplay. Just release something from a mission of uninterrupted gameplay from a side quest. I want to see how the techie playstyle works. I want to see the spiderbot in action. I want to see some crafting and special equipment. Whether it takes place at night or in the city doesn't really concern me.

I just add melee combat to everyone's suggestions.

keanu, grimes or another star (anybody said Ninja?) showing everybody how good is to be famous. This adds a lot of value to a videogame, in particular gameplay-wise. People at E3 will see a demo, people at home will have to wait until september because reasons.
Its sad that we have such low expectations from CDPR now.

Don't read too much into this - they did not made plans for these conventions because they were on April 16 release schedule before.

Yes please! Those quick cuts gave me such a headache, especially on rewatches.

What I'm most interested in seeing right now is the character creator, they've glazed over it every time now and I'd love to see it covered more in-depth.

Demos take time, and people to make, I'd rather CDPR devote the effort to the game itself.

I’m sure they can spare a small team for a small demonstration at this stage (if the game is ready and only in need if playtesting and polishing). I’d really like it to become absolutely certain whether I’m to expect a shooter with some RPG elements glued over the leaking seams, or an RPG with shooter elements that do not override the RPG. I’d really want to finally get it to rest that ”this” is how it will be, no more questions, no more ambiguity, ”this” is how it will be.
Excitement or disappointmet, which ever.

I don’t even care if such demonstration pushes the game all the way to christmas. :p

Actually if the game is as advanced as they said they can at least release gameplay videos without problems.
After all who cares about demo when they're not the ones actually playing it...?

The explanation for everything: Hands on. Not Demo show, to some degree the demo cheating everyone so just hands on.

I like your ideas!

I'd personally love to see a short side quest in it's entirety, no editing no cuts.

If it's a trailer however, lots of cuts, like the E3 2018 trailer. Cutscenes x gameplay would be ideal, maybe some sort of story trailer like Witcher had.

It should either focus on weapons and skill tree details, or a video where V randomly explores Night City, preferably at night.

Since it's a mature game for mature audiences they'll have it in. Same as in TW3.

The only thing worth discussing is if there will be a turn off option for folks who want to do so.

They could keep the blood and gore in cutscenes, sometimes less is more, we dont need to be exposed to it all the time via combat. A few Bruce Lee move might do the trick during the story, you kick leg and see it cracking etc. Or you grab an arm and break it on your shoulder.

Thats what they do to nudity. Would you like this game if there was boobs and nudity like 50% of the time? Everywhere you go you see fresh pair of boobs etc.

They could even sell blood and gore via ads or music etc. What if there was some real sicky band?

Hey, the man himself has responded. We got a trailer in 2018 and 2019 so I think that is a given for this year too :p

At this point I just want them to work on finishing the game. I'd rather us not get any pretty demo video, them skip both E3 and gamescon and just focus on the damn game.

I'm good, creating demos and whatnot would take time and resources that they can put in the game. And your ideas are too revealing for me. The only thing I would want to have announced/shown at e3 or whatever would be TPP photomode. lol

The delay has reset my expectations regarding upcoming demos and previews. At this point, all I care the most is seeing gameplay of the techie skillset, some new characters, some new locations, and more game art. Everything else will be a(n admittedly very welcome) plus.

When we get very close to the release date, though, who knows? I might get very hungry for more content :coolstory:
