end game warning befor entering

so i play throw untill i got to the empire building .. i walked up to the elevator an got this message stating " you can not do any side / gig quest untill the main story is finished " but when i finished the main story... i get this bs message do you want to continue to play or end the game...
i selected continue to play but what i did not expect was to be sent back in to a save befor i entered the main quest. like i didn't even touch the story mission at that point.. so whats the point in having a message to not allow side / gig quest untill main is finished if theres no after....??????

For each ending you do you get to keep some of the legendary loot from that ending. On top of that you get some cyberware for free after doing at least one ending.
