Going into the settings menu for any reason tanks frame rate when returning to game

+
Okay, so I did a second clean re-install and my crashing issue from earlier is resolved.

When I boot up the game with my settings (everything set to High, RT Psycho, all advanced RT features enabled, DLSS, Frame Gen on), the game has 50-60fps.

If I reset the graphic settings to a preset like High, go back to game, I get 100-144fps. From there, I can put all my settings back as listed above and my FPs stays at 100-144fps. Great. Working fine.

But, if I go into the settings menu for any reason after that, even if I change nothing, the FPs tanks back down to 50-60.

Not sure what could be causing this.

- 3700x / 4070 / 16GB ram / Windows 11 / latest drivers (clean reinstall today).
- No mods of any kind.
- Did a full clean install of 2077 as per the support website's guidelines (this fixed my crashing issue).

Sounds like something is hooking the program. Are you running anything in the background -- video capture, RTSS, Discord, live stream, etc.?

Nothing is doing that, no, I'm pretty sure. My gaming PC has nothng running on it at all but the games and the launchers and never has. The only other thing I do on it is browse on my second screen.

Game was running fine, I exit to update, and as soon as I went back in game the issue happened.

My second guess would be GPU drivers. I would update if you haven't done so and see if anything changes. Alternatively, rolling back may be worth a shot.

I would also try disabling the other screen. Things like web browsers can be extremely demanding if running during gameplay, especially if system resources are near a limit.

What you're describing is very particular. Something is eating frames and not giving them back. It could be the game, of course, so contacting Support may be worth it...but I would imagine it's system-specific. I'm not seeing any reports along these lines aside from this one.
