I work near one of the engineers responsible for testing the Hybrid Memory Cube memory, and while I can't say much about it, it sounds like if the latest XBox were to want to use it and still launch by the end of the year, that's going to be cutting things close for development deadlines on both ends.
It's certainly got potential for packing lots of memory into tight spaces, and it's a neat technology. I just hope Microsoft learned some lessons from the 360 and not fully understanding quirks that can crop up with their design... but maybe things will go absolutely smoothly and they'll get enough time to test the HMC and make sure it aligns with other design considerations.
