Is cyberpunk 2077 a sequel

Only found out about this game by randomly finding the video on youtube. I take that as a stroke of luck as iv been dieing for a futuristic si fi sorta gritty game. Something like.. erm whats that film called.. bladerunner!! dark and gritty ya know.

Any way, some one was telling me that it was a sequel, is this true? trying searching for information but unable to find any info.

it`s not a sequel. its a new franchise based on the pnp game Cyberpunk 2020

It is a sequel of the PnP Cyberpunk 2020. It is the same universe, 57 years in the future.

Same corporations (some died, others have born). Same city, same violent atmosphere, more technology.

It's not a sequel as such, as there's no computer game that precedes it, however it is based on a continuation of a fairly well established lore fro Cyberpunk 2020
