Ill try to be brief - game is alright. Gameplay is suprisingly average.
The guy who thought double tap directional key to dodge is a good decision - fire him - no other way. He has no idea what hes doing, he doesnt play video games, he should never be involved in the process of making video games.
WHY?
sneaking: random dodge - detected
fighting: want to dodge - adds MASSIVE input delay (the time it takes to press twice) - makes dodging with precise timing impossible.
try to peek from behind a corner - random dodge - whoops completely out of cover
^this is not bad because its bad. This is bad because it shows a complete and total lack of understanding for video games in general. Please fire the person who made this decision. Im not joking. Every person who is invested in video games in any way understands intuitetively why this is awful. Also fire all the testers who didnt see this as an obvious issue. They dont know what they are doing. Im serious. Period.
Melee combat does not work for most of the game on highest difficulties. This is because you really NEED the big health regen perks to make it viable (heal thru hit on stunned targets and heal on kill for hammers/blades respectively). These need to be unlockable super early on. Like 6 points into the stat early. Without them melee doesnt function.
AI is broken - AI is hard so no big deal. But it really hurts the gameplay if enemies randomly just do nothing or 3 guys just wait behind a corner in the open rather than rushing you or at least taking cover. AI breaks too frequently to be not relevant.
The game seems to force you into stealth at certain points. Stealth is boring. Stealth is not a particularly popular genre (see sales numbers of AAA stealth titles). If you want to make multiple playstyles viable - you have to not punish the player if he doesnt want to use a specific one.
The Loot is bad. This is mostly because looting is a major way to make money and get crafting materials - both of which you basically always need. Theres too much looting - it feels like a chore. Partial solution: inventory items are no longer a main source of income > more cash from quests/activities themselves. Still leaves the crafting as awful but skipping crafting is a lot less punishing than just having no cash.
