If we can't even overwrite weapon mods with a replacement, then please stop dropping high tier weapons with low tier mods...

As This Thread pointed out a year and a half ago, there are problems with the way mods are handled now. While nearly every other aspect of the game has improved, this issue still lingers and causes frustration.

The problem is that the system is inconsistent. It was changed to one way but was not fully updated. For example:

- We can't remove mods to re-use or farm them; that WOULD encourage more use of the crafting system, EXCEPT we cannot override existing mods either. For some bizarre reason a mod is permanent now. If you don't want us "harvesting" mods, okay, but at least let us overwrite them. Because:

- Inappropriate mods drop with weapons and now there's no way to correct that error. It didn't matter before, as we could remove them, BUT now, as the thread i linked above points out, an explosive-ammo weapon can drop with, say, a "bonus to ricochet" mod, which is meaningless and does nothing.....
- Or the Nekmata i got, a 4-round magazine weapon, that came with a Tier 2 Shufler mod: so the only real effect on my sniper rifle is now it takes 25% longer to reload and has no other benefit and I can't fix it, go farm more scanners and pray for new drops.
- The system needs to sanity-check that its RNG isn't assigning a nonsensical mod to a weapon. ALSO,

- High-tier weapons drop with crap-tier mods all the time. This is beyond annoying. Yay i finally start getting Tier 4 weapons! Wait crap it has a green Tier 2 mod. WHYYYYYYY??? Again, if we cannot replace or upgrade mods, then at LEAST make sure the system doesn't troll us by giving crap mods to good weapons. At the very worst, cap it to "one lower tier" so a T4 weapon might get a T4 or a T3 mod. Then you still have a chance to find a nonoptimal weapon, but at least it could still be useful until you find a better one.

But really the best solutions would be to either:

- Let us overwrite existing mods, so we can replace bad mods with good ones we craft; AND/OR
- Make sure high tier weapons don't troll players by spawning with low-tier mods (scopes and muzzles of any quality are fine since we can remove those anyway.)

Thank you.

TL;DR In any game, RNG is a necessary function for some elements but it is not, never has been, and never will be, a major source of fun and compelling gameplay. Yes, people are easily addicted to gambling and the rush of finding something good "for free," but it quickly gets replaced with grind, boredom and frustration. it is no replacement for player agency, and never will be. Roll back this change, or at least make the necessary changes to support it better (such as overwriting).

Yes I could not play the game anymore without the game mod to change it back to how it was on game release.

The game mod lets you overwrite existing weapon mods, like it was in the game I purchased.

One of the only mod yet to be made that I lament for every time I play now is to change the Satori back to its full glory. :(

Humm that sounds intriguing - mind telling me the mod name that lets you overwrite existing mods?

I generally either leave game balance as-is or even make things harder, but, like i say above: this change is counter-productive and works against the crafting system IMO. It's just more RNG than I want at that point.
