New game idea for CDPR

+
Hello!

I am a huge fan of anything Dragon and I've been thinking a lot lately about the Eragon series. I think CD Projekt Red would be the perfect company to make a game in the world of Alagaesia that takes place before the Eragon books, when the dragon riders flourished.

I don't know exactly what the story would be, but you would start as someone whose dragon egg as just hatched. You would be able to custom create your character, as well as your dragon, and you would start by learning the basics with hunting for food with the dragon. It would be an open-world concept that would take you all around Alagaesia as the bond between you and your dragon grows stronger.

With Disney working on adapting the series for Disney+ and Christopher Paolini working on it with them, maybe he would be interested in helping to write the story behind it as well.

Would anyone else be interested in seeing something like this? There's just not enough dragon-centric stuff out there for me to enjoy, though I am super excited for Dragon's Dogma 2. Been waiting for it for a decade!

Hey,
I would like that.

Those high-level fantasy stories like Eragon, LotR,...definitely have the potential to be adapted in many ways.
I am just scared Disney's doing it...

The first Eragon movie was poorly received, however, I liked it quite a lot.

Also, I think dragons are pretty cliche, so if many companies started making TV series with them, they would fall off very quickly.

Yea I'm quickly losing all faith in Disney to do anything right, but if they lent rights to CDPR to make a game, I think they would do a wonderful job. I didn't dislike the movie as much as others, but that's because I hadn't read the books. I'm reading the first one now finally and I can see why people were upset. And I agree that they're a bit cliche, but that's only because it's been done poorly too many times I think. When I come across something that does justice to dragons, it really reels me in lol.

Sons of Anarchy style of game sounds fun to me. We need a baddie with a motorbike in game industry!

I kinda hope they dont make too many titles though, see what happened to Ubisoft? Stock dropped 90%. Too many titles?? Shit didnt stick toghether, at the same time, Blizzard with a few titles, is going rocket high.

If we're going that route, Full Throttle might be a fun game.

What if Adda had survived? (Fan-made Remake of The Witcher 1 and 2 combined into a single storyline)

The events of The Witcher 1 remain mostly the same — but the cursed princess Adda survives and marries Radovid. Then begins a chain of deaths: Foltest, Vizimir, Henselt… The world falls apart, and only Geralt of Rivia — unwilling as ever — is drawn back into a web of political intrigue.

I. Kaer Morhen

Geralt is found unconscious by the witchers and brought back to Kaer Morhen.

He wakes up but does not recognize the witchers nor Triss Merigold. Moreover, he has no memory of himself or how he ended up near the keep.

Kaer Morhen is attacked by Savolla and the Salamandra gang. The attack is repelled, but mutagens and secret scrolls are stolen.

The witchers set out to track down the mysterious gang — aiming to recover their secrets and take revenge.

Triss immediately teleports to Vizima to gather all possible intelligence about the attackers.

II. The Outskirts

During the investigation, Geralt finds himself in the outskirts of Vizima, learning that the Salamandra trail leads into the city.

He cannot enter the capital directly — a quarantine is declared due to an outbreak of the “Katriona” plague.

Geralt saves a boy named Alvin, who turns out to be a “source.”

He meets Zoltan Chivay, the dwarf, and Shani, the medic.

Also introduced are the alchemist Kalkstein, the merchant Leuvaarden, and the sorceress Abigail — all with different reasons to enter Vizima.

Geralt has romantic encounters with both Shani and Abigail.

There are pogroms against nonhumans, Scoia’tael activity, the “Beast,” Fischtech production, human and drugs trafficking .

After a thorny and complex journey, Geralt, Shani, Zoltan, Kalkstein, Alvin, Abigail and Leuvaarden finally reach Vizima.

III. Vizima

Geralt teams up with Leuvaarden in court intrigues, resulting in Triss Merigold becoming Foltest’s advisor.

With the help of Triss and Leuvaarden, Geralt discovers that Azar Javed is behind the Salamandra gang.

Geralt and Triss develop a romantic relationship. Alvin lives with them.

Shani works at the hospital, assisting Geralt during his investigation. The junk dealer Thaler helps Geralt get closer to Azar Javed.

Geralt locates the Salamandra’s hideout and ultimately battles Azar Javed.

Several provocations spark a war between the Order of the Flaming Rose and the Scoia’tael. Yaevinn and Siegfried emerge as leaders of the uprising on behalf of the non-humans and the Order, respectively. Nonhumans face pogroms in Vizima. Alvin disappears.

Geralt uncovers that behind it all — the creation of the Salamandra, the attack on Kaer Morhen, the civil war, and the new mutant witchers — stands the Grand Master of the Order.

King Foltest and Prince Radovid arrive with troops near Vizima to restore order.

At Foltest’s request, Geralt removes the curse from Adda a second time. Adda realizes the evil she has caused and falls into deep remorse.

The second curse is placed by one of Foltest’s closest advisors. Even under torture, he refuses to reveal who is behind it.

In the chaos of the civil war, Egan — with Scoia’tael help and the intrigue of a certain Nilfgaardian spy — arrives at Foltest’s court disguised as a blind monk.

Geralt tracks down and kills the Grand Master. On the body, he notices a medallion — the same one Triss gave to Alvin.

After the Grand Master’s death, the Order weakens. Foltest promises amnesty to all who lay down their arms — and the civil war quiets down.

Foltest returns to Vizima and hastily arranges the marriage of Adda and Radovid to stabilize the alliance with Redania.

The wedding is a political attempt to ease tensions in the capital. The marriage is formal — Radovid is cold, Adda distrusts her husband.

During the celebrations, the guards become careless, and Egan successfully assassinates Foltest. Egan manages to escape.

Adda becomes the sole legitimate claimant to the throne. Her position is shaky, but the Constable Jan Natalis supports her.

Vernon Roche, commander of a special squad, starts an investigation and quickly uncovers the trail of the blind monk and the Scoia’tael assisting him.

Adda hires Geralt under the guise of a contract — with a personal request — to find her father’s killer. Geralt reluctantly agrees.

Triss, understanding the risks of her position at court, decides to accompany Geralt in pursuit of Foltest’s murderer, simultaneously aiding Geralt and removing some suspicion from herself.

Adda orders Vernon Roche to take Geralt and Triss with him. Vernon Roche objects but obeys. They head to Flotsam. Fragmented memories begin returning to Geralt.

A few days after their departure, news arrives in Vizima of Vizimir’s death. Radovid rushes back to Redania, leaving Adda “temporarily ruling alone.”

It soon becomes clear that Vizimir was killed in cross-court intrigues involving Emhyr and Philippa Eilhart.

IV. Flotsam

The heroes arrive in Flotsam, where they are greeted by the Commander Loredo. It turns out that the harbor exit is blocked by the monster Kayran, and the only bridge is destroyed — so no one can leave Flotsam.

In the tavern, they meet Zoltan and Dandelion. They learn that Dandelion is a Temerian spy personally recruited by Vernon Roche. From him, they find out that Loredo is negotiating with Redania. There, they also meet Sheala de Tancarville, who is busy healing Henselt’s infertility.

Geralt and Vernon Roche begin gathering intelligence. Meanwhile, Geralt must also deal with the problems of Kayran and the broken bridge.

In Binduga, Cedric tells Geralt about the district, the missing elves, Kayran, and mentions the Roses of Remembrance. He asks Geralt to find two missing people: Rupert and Grydle.

Geralt sets out on the search (Quest: “In the Claws of Madness”). Eventually, Geralt finds notes about the Wild Hunt in a burned-down infirmary and recalls fighting the Wild Hunt warriors himself.

Geralt and Triss find the Roses of Remembrance near the Elven Baths.

Triss prepares and performs a ritual to restore Geralt’s memory:

She casts spells to enhance empathy and open his mind;

Geralt falls into a magical trance;

The rose in his hands begins to pulse;

Flashes of images appear before him: the battle with the Hunt, a silhouette of Yennefer, Ciri riding, fragments of various events. The flow of memories is chaotic — the magic does not “sort” the images;

Geralt experiences physical pain — his body convulses, blood flows from his nose;

He screams, as some memories are too traumatic — the death of friends, torture, betrayal;

The ritual is interrupted, but some memories remain fragmentary.

Aftereffects of the ritual:

Geralt remembers separate pieces of his past: Yennefer, Kaer Morhen, Ciri, Vilgefortz;

He no longer feels empty inside;

He gains motivation to seek the truth and understand himself;

Memories are fragmentary and sometimes resurface in nightmares;

He doesn’t fully understand who Yennefer is but feels a strong, almost painful attachment to her;

His relationship with Triss becomes tense. He doesn’t blame her but senses something is wrong.

Ludwig Mertz commissions a contract to kill a troll. Geralt accidentally discovers that the troll is actually repairing the bridge, not destroying it. The problem is that the troll is currently on a binge after the trolless was killed. Geralt finds out that Dimitri — a bandit, smuggler, and Loredo’s right hand — killed her. After Dimitri’s death, Geralt finds a letter on him written by Mertz, confirming that Loredo is indeed preparing to surrender Flotsam to Redania.

Geralt tells Vernon Roche, and they confirm the letter’s authenticity. Ludwig Mertz is not only a clerk but also Loredo’s brother-in-law.

Geralt, together with Sheala de Tancarville, kills Kayran. Sheala gathers the necessary ingredients and teleports to Kaedwen.

Geralt and Triss find the severely wounded Ciaran aep Easnillen on a prison barge. He reveals that the blind monk is Witcher Egan and tells them how to reach Iorveth.

At the place indicated by Ciaran aep Easnillen, they walk into an ambush. Geralt hears them from afar and reveals himself. During a tense conversation, Geralt explains that Ciaran aep Easnillen is alive, attacked by Egan, and now wounded and held on the prison barge. Iorveth is ready to reveal all the conspiracy details in exchange for Ciaran aep Easnillen’s release.

Vernon Roche executes Loredo and Mertz. The rest of the garrison comes under suspicion. Vernon Roche’s men interrogate every soldier.

Geralt tells Vernon Roche about his deal with Iorveth and asks him to free Ciaran aep Easnillen. At first, Vernon Roche is furious, but Bianca calms him down, and he finally agrees.

Geralt alone takes Ciaran aep Easnillen to the agreed location — which is also a Scoia’tael ambush. Iorveth reveals that Egan, together with Letho, used Scoia’tael contacts to organize Foltest’s assassination and that the Scoia’tael in Lower Marches are assisting Zerrit in plotting to kill King Henselt.

Geralt tells Vernon Roche everything. They realize they must go to Lower Marches — possibly to prevent King Henselt’s assassination.

In the end, Geralt, Vernon Roche, Bianca, Triss, Zoltan, Dandelion, and a few of Vernon Roche’s soldiers set off on a small barge to the Lower Marches. Most of Roche's soldiers remained in the garrison until further orders from the capital.

V. Wyrmberg

An assassination attempt on King Henselt by Zerrit fails, resulting in Zerrit’s death. Letho and Egan arrive too late and are forced to abandon further attempts.

In Aedirn, a peasant uprising erupts, and power effectively falls into the hands of Saskia, the leader of the rebels. Philippa Eilhart serves as Saskia’s advisor.

Henselt prepares to invade rebellious Aedirn. During negotiations, he kills a priest at an ancient shrine, triggering Sabrina Glevissig’s curse. The Phantom Battle begins.

Saskia calls a war council, during which she is poisoned.

The party’s boat is met by a patrol led by Yarpen Zigrin, who recognizes Geralt and Zoltan from afar.

Yarpen complains that ghosts roam everywhere, the sun has vanished, Saskia has been poisoned, and an army from Kaedwen stands on the opposite shore.

Yarpen escorts them to Philippa Eilhart and Scalean Burdon. They ask for help maintaining order: to find the poisoners, identify the toxin, and lift the Phantom Battle curse.

Triss determines that Saskia was poisoned with Mandrake — a deadly toxin that, if wielded skillfully, can weaken one’s willpower.

During the investigation, it becomes clear that Saskia was poisoned by the priest Olshan, who, with Stennis’s consent, laced her cup. The enraged crowd lynches Prince Stennis of Aedirn. His blood is needed as an ingredient for Saskia’s antidote.

Identifying the mastermind behind the poisoning is impossible since Henselt killed Olshan. Philippa is suspected — she could have easily manipulated such a strong, charismatic leader. Cynthia hints privately at Mandrake’s properties to weaken the will.

Triss and Cynthia assist Philippa in crafting the antidote and treating Saskia.

To cross to the other side and reach Henselt and Foltest’s killers, Geralt must lift the curse.

He must find the symbols of the battle and participate in the Phantom Battle himself as a key player, which finally breaks the magical block on his memory.

After the Phantom Battle ends, Geralt, Vernon Roche, and Triss arrive at Henselt’s camp and recount the circumstances of Foltest’s murder. Henselt tells them about the failed attempt on his life and the upcoming council in Loc Muinne.

Henselt allows them to continue their investigation but demands full neutrality and non-involvement in his war with Aedirn.

During the investigation, they discover a Scoia’tael hideout where Letho, Zerrit, and Egan once hid. The Scoia’tael are dead — Letho and Egan are gone. Vernon Roche recalls Henselt’s words about the Loc Muinne council and suspects the killers might exploit the gathering of monarchs there.

They return to Wyrmberg to decide their next steps. Geralt shares all he’s learned about Henselt and Saskia’s plans and forces with Zoltan and Yarpen so they can prepare for the assault.

Vernon Roche refuses to participate in the conflict — fearing their involvement would be seen as dragging Temeria into the war. He agrees only to help evacuate civilians. Triss also cites her status as the late Foltest’s advisor and that no one officially revoked her powers. She urges Geralt to maintain neutrality, warning that giving Henselt such a pretext could spark another war.

Henselt begins the siege of Wyrmberg. Geralt, Triss, Vernon Roche, and his men organize the safe evacuation of civilians.

Zoltan acts as a field commander.

Ultimately, the assault is repelled, but Henselt, leading his troops, is surrounded.

He is forced to admit defeat and pledges to withdraw his forces and sign a peace treaty at the Loc Muinne council.

Despite the successful defense, Wyrmberg’s garrison suffers heavy losses. Philippa realizes her gamble on creating a new state under Saskia was a mistake. She abandons further attempts to control Saskia and, along with Cynthia, teleports urgently to Loc Muinne.

The heroes decide to make one last effort to track down Letho and Egan at Loc Muinne. During their journey, Geralt and Triss have a serious conversation about Geralt’s past — the Child Surprise, the Last Wish, and the Wild Hunt.

VI. Loc Muinne

A council is convened with the goal of restoring the Mage’s Chapter.

Attending the council are: Radovid, King of Redania; Henselt, King of Kaedwen; Vesna, the Dowager Queen of Aedirn; Nilfgaard’s ambassador Shilard Fitz-Oesterlen.

There is no official delegation from Temeria — instead, Triss Merigold, advisor to the late King Foltest, and Vernon Roche, commander of the Blue Stripes and de facto head of Temeria’s counterintelligence, represent it.

Philippa Eilhart and Sheala de Tancarville plan to legitimize the Lodge of Sorceresses. The true purpose of the Lodge is to establish a new order in which mages influence politics through puppet monarchs.

Sheala de Tancarville falls into a trap set by Letho and dies — he replaced the crystal in her megascope.

Cynthia betrays Philippa. She places dwarven steel shackles on the sleeping Philippa and then goes to the Nilfgaardian camp. From her conversation with Shilard, it becomes clear that Cynthia is a Nilfgaardian agent.

Nilfgaardian soldiers take Philippa Eilhart from her home and hide her in their camp.

Shilard and his delegation visit Radovid’s camp and inform him of Philippa’s capture. Radovid hurriedly summons the guards and all go to the Nilfgaard camp, where he personally blinds Philippa. The blindfolded and bound sorceress is transferred to the Redanian camp.

Cynthia tells Geralt about Philippa’s fate, hiding her own involvement.

The next day, the council begins.

Meanwhile, Triss persuades Bianca to help free Philippa because she knows too much. Bianca reluctantly agrees. They organize a successful raid and free Philippa. After removing the Dwarven steel shackles, Philippa transforms into an owl and flies off into an unknown direction. Bianca and Triss return to the Temerian camp.

Radovid summons Letho of Gulet as a witness. Letho accuses Philippa Eilhart and Sheala de Tancarville of ordering him to arrange the assassinations of kings and assisting in these actions.

Henselt accuses the Lodge of Sorceresses of attempting to kill him.

Radovid accuses the Lodge of murdering Vizimir, Foltest, and Demavend and declares all members of the Lodge outlaws.

Radovid launches a witch hunt — riots and pogroms break out in the city.

Geralt and Roche hastily return to the temporary Temerian camp where Triss, Bianca, and soldiers await them.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Letho arrives. He offers Geralt to settle everything here and now, citing his knowledge of Geralt’s stubbornness and his own exhaustion from hiding.

Letho recounts their shared past — how Geralt once saved his life. Geralt recalls these events. Letho tells him about Yennefer’s fate — she is alive and imprisoned by Emhyr.

Letho reveals he killed Demavend, Egan killed Foltest, and Zerrit was supposed to kill Henselt. In truth, they carried out these assassinations on orders from the Nilfgaardian Emperor in exchange for restoring the School of the Viper. Emhyr’s plan is to destroy the northern monarchs, destabilize the political map, and prepare the ground for a new invasion.

Letho promises that he and the wounded Egan will disappear and never reappear in Geralt’s life. They part ways.

Emhyr begins an invasion of the North.

Nilfgaard invades Temeria, aiming to seize it before Redania can intervene. The Flotsam garrison is urgently recalled to defend Vizima — only a few remain. Learning this, Iorveth easily captures the city.

Nilfgaardian troops capture Aedirn within days. Remnants of resistance led by Saskia negotiate with the Scoia’tael and hastily retreat to the forests near Flotsam.

Kaedwen’s forces hold positions beyond Pontar.

DLC-mode The Witcher 3

Radovid completely loses his mind and continues exterminating mages. Dijkstra arranges an assassination attempt on Radovid. Geralt helps him — Dijkstra becomes Lord Protector of Redania and occupied Kaedwen.

Most of the Temerian army is destroyed, but remnants under Natalis and Roche go underground and wage guerrilla warfare. The population actively resists the occupation.

Taller and Roche secretly negotiate with Emhyr. Geralt assists — Temeria signs a vassal treaty with Nilfgaard in exchange for neutrality. Adda becomes Temeria’s steward.

The war between Redania and Nilfgaard stagnates in a slow-burning phase. Neither Emhyr nor Dijkstra want to force Pontar. Mutual palace intrigues and attempts to sway Novigrad follow. As a result, there is an assassination attempt on the Emperor.

Some ideas for realisation:
Remove grind
and repetitive "bring me 10 claws" type quests.
Cut out the Swamps and Murky Waters as separate locations — move all important content to the Outskirts.

Reimagine the Outskirts as a cluster of 4–5 villages and several isolated hamlets.
Make Vizima a single, seamless location — similar to Novigrad in The Witcher 3.

After obtaining the pass (due to the quarantine from the plague), grant full freedom of movement between Vizima and the surrounding areas.

Add more varied contract types: clearing roads of monsters, rescuing villagers — like the quest "In the Claws of Madness".
Include side stories in the vein of Vincent and Carmen, Alina and Celina, or the missing boy and the cannibal’s hut.

The overall experience should be more focused and narratively cohesive.
Most of the key supporting characters naturally fit into Vizima and the Outskirts — Siegfried and Rayla for the Order of the Flaming Rose, Yaevinn and Toruviel for the Scoia’tael.

Thaler, Shani, and Kalkstein are essential to the main plot.
Other characters can be introduced as needed through side quests.

The Beast (The Outskirts), the Kayran (Flotsam), and the Draugir (Wyrmberg) should be turned into unique contracts with high rewards and significant experience gains.
