Side-Quest Suggestions Thread

+
I had an idea for a side-quest I'd like to see in CP 2077 and I thought this would make an interesting topic.

My idea for a side-quest involves the player discovering a sentient soda machine that longs to experience the world, but is unfortunately unable to do so. The soda machine pleads with the player to help transfer its consciousness into a mobile platform.

My proposed name for this side-quest: Deus Ex Soda Machina.

What kind of side-quests would you like to see? Be as descriptive as you want. Who knows? Maybe CDPR will see this and give us some fan service.

Any side mission or activity that involves Ciri from Witcher 3.
For obvious reasons really.
I'm a huge fan of the Cyberpunk universe and the Witcher universe and I wouldn't want any other character to make the crossover. But we all feel with Ciri that it's a little bit different as we know that she spent 6 months in a world she described to be a cyberpunk world.

I know that the Cyberpunk 2077 director is against the idea as he states that CP2077 isn't Kingdom Hearts. I get what he's saying and I'd agree if it was anyone apart from Ciri. But come on dude you gotta know how much this would mean for people who love CDPR games, and the characters within those games.
We've all had to bite the bullet on the first person thing so please could you give us this much.
Personally I'd love to see a Ciri standalone game but as far as I know there isn't going to be be one for a very long time - if ever.
But even if it wasn't a full side mission, some sort of nod to or reference of an ashen haired wench who was desperately trying to get back to another world and time would be enough to satiate our OCD desires for all things to tie up nicely.

I have sad news for you....

No Ciri. People should stop getting their hopes up.

I don't really care myself; one appearance from her (or even an easter egg somewhere) is not going to break my immersion, especially if it's something you can easily miss (like Leo's grave in The Witcher 3).

But if the director says "nope," the answer is "nope."

A quest where you are kitten-sitting.

And that's all it really amount to. You spend time in an apartment, playing with and paying attention to a kitten. Several situations come up that hint at danger, but turn out to the kitten playing or just innocent.

I want to have to stalk a serial killer only to find out that the tables are turned and he is stalking ME (broke to my place and such) , if i keep going after him he kills a friend of mine , In the end I catch him and end him or let him go to keep my friend safe while I occasionally see his "work" on the news from time to time.

Id like to see a quest around a wiped out or mostly wiped out gang (like the dead rabbits in gangs of new york) that tried to make there part of the community stable, somewhat save & just a bit better. (i suggest the name: cohhaltion ^^).

After some brutal gang fights (casual thuesday) You overhear some residents say it was all better when the other gang was still around and you can infestigage, maybe find one or to surfivars. and so on.

I think it would be cool and totally unexpected if someone was to rob the player of an cyber-eye. And doing so would mean that part of your vision, say e.g. Left eye/side of the screen still shows the feed from the eye and directly the path of the robber so you have to chase the thief, remember the path in order to get your enhanced eye back and thus full vision again. In addition, the thief might accidentally drop it in a sewer during the chase and you have to get there to retrieve it again. Or drops it on a street and a black raven comes in and picks it up for its nest high above street level taunting you to climb vertically

I would like a side quest where you do a job that changes the tone of the game like maybe coming racing driver and seening how it has change and now is very corrputed or just could racing action like in that movie Rush.

Side quest where you meet a person that thinks the would they are in and that everyone is just a mindless drone going about day and that none of them matter be would be amazing who doesnt love forth wall breaks.

But crazy quest that really push out the lore and show how werid the world has become or maybe how even though might be tearing itself apart there is still some good in it.

Maybe side quest that push you to think outside the box maybe explore the city and find place you would of never seen if you did not do this quest.

A guy offers you a blue pill and a red pill. Regardless of which one you take, you end up without your implants and probably some internal organs, laying naked in some dumpster. Now you have to track the guy and unleash your wrath. But maybe there are more twists to this story.

Homage to Cyber City OEDO 808:
1. Tracking down a dangerous hacker. Prime suspect - dead person.
2. Grisly corpses of victims lead investigation to human body parts trafficking circles and uncover major conspiracy about construction of cyborgs for military. Those are being tested around the city, including on you.
3. Solving a mystery that seemingly involves vampires, based on wounds on dead victims.

From what I've gathered, the setting for Cyberpunk 2077 will be a rather grim one. Nothing wrong with that and the somewhat ambiguous outcomes of many Witcher 3 quests where a nice change of pace from the many obvious good vs evil outcomes many RPGs offer. I do hope that the game will offer you the chance to make a difference for the better (or worse) at times, only being dark and grim will induce apathy about the outcome. Let me give an example of what I mean:

Some corp hires you to retrieve some stolen data. Upon closer inspection the data is the genome sequence and DNA-samples of a bird common to us (sparrow, swallow etc) but extinct in Cyberpunk. He suspects a rival corps and points you to the gang likely responsible. You track down the gang and retrieve the data. There you find that they got the assignment from an idealistic researcher who hopes to use the data to eventually clone back the bird. He makes a moral appeal and offers to compensate you for handing the data to him. You also note that the competition might pay you for actually destroying the data.

Now you have some real choice about how V will act in the world. What is his/her morality? You can be proffesional, retrieving the data for your employer and either dealing with the researcher permanently regardless of his motive or perhaps giving him a copy of some data for that warm and fuzzy feeling. Your V will be a pro trying to get by, but perhaps sympathetic to a cause or pissed of at being led on a wild goose chase by some idiot.

You could give the researcher the data, but will royally piss of a corp. No good deed goes unpunished but perhaps the hope of change is enough for your V.

Another take would be to contact the rival corps and ask them what they offer for the data. Destroy it for a higher paycheck if you must. Your V only cares about number one, since noone else in the city will do so otherwise.

Long story short, I hope for sidequests that really let you define how V sees the world and offers some white or black accents to the grey world he/she lives in without being saintly good or puppyeatingly evil.

What about this:

Player somehow learns (I believe he is policeman ?) that there is series of planned bomb attacks in metro, or train stations.

Basically, he goes to the first station and tries to find bomb and/or catch the attacker.
If he catches him - that's mostly it and quest is finished successfully.
If he does not catch him, station explodes and player needs to move to the next station and try again.

Also, player can find wife of this attacker in some bar.
She tells player, that she divorced with him, because he was getting aggressive, nervous; and was beating her,
but gives player name of the attacker - "Sneak" - and address of his rented apartment.

If player goes to that apartment, he can find there some mess, evidence; and if he waits there, Sneak will come;
and there can be some convincing, fight, chase, or whatever,...
If player does not wait for Sneak and just searches the place, he can find receipt for rented warehouse.

If player goes to that warehouse, he can find there explosives and parts of prepared bombs.

Quest ends by getting rid of Sneak in one way or other, or him making all of the stations explode and then committing suicide. There can also be some touching dialogue with his wife, which tries to speak it out of him, etc...

This got me thinking.

CDPR should strive to try to have 'quests' that initiate in ways other than just going to a quest giver or finding a location.

Maybe have one where you're locked outside of your apartment and have to find a way in which branches out into an investigation of some kind.
Maybe if you're a netrunner you could be locked inside of your apartment instead and have to go into cyberspace to discover that it is incredibly difficult to bypass ICE that is blocking access to the door which can then lead to you investigating entirely from the apartment, perhaps even guiding a companion through some sort of mission involved in getting you out towards the end.
While the pathway for the techie could be just to break open the door using whatever skills the techie has, which bypasses the entire questline and mystery perhaps.

With a quest like this, the trigger could be that the player has progressed far enough as a techie/netrunner/solo so that one of the routes are possible.

(another alternative to a quest like this could perhaps be having the entire megablock go on lockdown like in Dredd, rather than just your apartment)

Other alternative methods of starting quests off the top of my head:
spiking player's drink
malfunctioning cybernetics
botched assassination attempt
getting stuck in a braindance/cyberspace
date-specific? eg. christmas but with cyberpunk extreme commercialism twist (dunno if this is a lore thing or not)

these aren't the best of ideas but I hope ppl can atleast get the idea that quests that initiate in more organic/interesting ways have the potential to increase immersion and make game feel less predictable/gamey.

When a game feels like it's been reduced to the exercising of a gameplay loop of finding questgiver doing quest and levelling up/finding gear i feel like a lot of potential is lost in terms of immersion and it can make the world feel a bit artificial, what I'm suggesting here isn't really a revamping of the wheel or anything though, more of a disruption to keep players from progressing through the game mindlessly.
