What is this REDLauncher stuff??

+
Okay, been a while away from CP2077. Had a new Windows install too, so a new clean start.
I logged into GOG Galaxy, updated everything, just the normal stuff.
Hitting the play button ... and after some delay, another launcher now appears with again asking me to sign in?
WTF?
And it's mandatory because when choosing to play with another launch parameter, direct to the Cyberpunk2077.exe, I can't claim my rewards cause "I have to go online with GOG" ... which I am. No, I MUST use REDLauncher and MUST sign in there also???
Really, what's the use of GOG Galaxy then when they throw in BS like this??

Did all that now cause otherwise I can't get my rewards otherwise. Once I got em, I am straight away skipping GOG and that REDLauncher BS and play it straight from the Cyberpunk2077.exe.

Yes, there it also states that that REDLauncher thing must be used to claim rewards. I simply don't understand why adding another game launcher suddenly is there and that it can not be simply skipped?

I don't know, maybe because Red Launcher is used by the game to connect your CDPR account which now have nothing to do with GOG anymore. But just a guess...

REDlauncher was always there since decemeber 2020 and you always had to sign into it to get the "My rewards" stuff. It's just a "play button"-thingy that also allows you to upload saves to the cloud (That's why signing in using your GOG/CDPR account is required to be able to get access to the online services. Because the saves are uploaded to GOG's servers and are linked with your account). Of course since CDPR games are DRM-free you can even skip the launcher itself altogether and just play the game right from it's .exe file. However you won't get the "My rewards" items unless you sign into the launcher. That has been the case since like the game's initial launch.

Yes the account that you'll be signing into REDlauncher with, is your CDPR account and the account that you use in GOG galaxy/GOG.com is an entirely different one.
