What's up with Vik's arm?

When we/V visit Viktor Vektor's clinic for the first time during the prelude and ask him for cyberware he uses an injector on his arm, right above his ripper doc tool arm. There are already several unhealed puncture wounds, most of which look infected. What does he use and why? Ideas, anyone?
Other ripperdocs have the same tool arm, but I haven't seen any of them with puncture wounds.

He injects something when you meet him, I'm not sure what, but think its something to stabilize his hands. If you notice he tinkers with arm tool so it may not be working the way it should. It seems he's a black market ripper doc, so he isn't working with the best.

Because he is old and as he was a former boxer, he probably has some damage to his brain which causes a little instability.

Lets be honest. When you are working on Koroshi eye implants, you really don't want to let them fall.
It would be interesting to see if other ripper docs would use boosters as well but those animations never existed.
