Friendly fire?

After finishing "Queen of the Highway", the last mission for Panam as far as I know, the Aldecaldos are 100% supportive of V, and would do anything for V. They're super close. V is basically family.

Then I did a mission (of which I don't remember the name, at all), and I was told to pick up a hostage from a hired driver who went MIA. I scanned the delinquent driver before approaching, and it turns out he was with the Aldecaldos. I thought "oh, hey, this guy probably knows me, maybe I'll get a dialogue option".

Nope.

He opened fire on sight. I did everything I could to not hurt him at all, and ended up putting him to sleep with a non-lethal takedown.

The replacement driver that showed up at the end was driving a car with "Aldecaldos" on the side. He also seemed to have no idea who I was. It was weird, considering I'm the guy who just saved Saul (their first leader), is banging Panam (their new co-leader), saved Mitch, helped save the whole camp after that, etc.

I get why not every intuitive action is explicitly programmed into the game, and it's probably good that the game is so immersive that one expects more immersion. At the same time, at least being recognized as friendly would be a nice addition. That should be relatively easy to add, right? Groups not wanting you to die immediately if you're not hostile yet? IDK. Maybe I played too much Fallout 76, and got used to that game mechanic (not playing that anymore for a reason though, CP2077 is 1000x better).

Hanging out with the Aldecaldos is actually one of my favorite parts so far (y), especially playing as a Nomad. It would be cool to get more of that, one way or another.

More Panam? More Aldecaldos? The reaction you'd get:

Jason Wildriver was given a job by Dakota Smith and that was to transport Benedict McAdams across the border. He had a different, selfish idea and betrayed Dakota -- also an Aldecaldo, mind you. He sold out to Militech for the bounty; she recognizes this and basically writes him off, sending V to get her merc back to safety. Now, Jason wouldn't know that, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to think before he acts, he just wants money. And from his perspective, V's just some guy strolling up when he's in the middle of a shady deal.

Also, the Aldecaldos is a nation of nomads, not simply a clan. They're huge. From a story/immersion perspective, it's perfectly reasonable to write Jason off as having no idea about V and the things he's done -- or if he did, it's perfectly reasonable to assume Jason just doesn't recognize him. Or that he just doesn't give a shit.

The spot where I agree and have a pretty similar gripe to you, though, is that Aldecaldos group in Pacifica. They'll just turn on you for no reason lol.
