Hotfix 1.06

+
So I'm having an issue with Cyberpunk since the 1.06 hot fix. I've linked a video below. Sorry, I'm not a good shot and it's my first time recording game play. But regardless a headless enemy shouldn't still get up and continue fighting.

120 hours logged into the game on a single playthrough. I'm starting to realize that they did not design the game with players like me in mind. If you want to try to max out your character, level up crafting and fully max out sets of legendary gear and weapons, then you're only going to ruin your save file. They clearly only intended every character to have a lifespan of about 30-60 hours with very little side content in mind. The longer I play and the more items acquired, the more unstable my save has become. I started a new character and have had no crashes as of yet, but on my main character I have crashes nearly every 5-10 minutes after booting up the game from a crash when I stick around parts of the city. Everything works just fine out in the badlands or places like Santo Domingo and Pacifica, though.

If you want to get the most out of the game and try to 100% on a single playthrough, the game is just not equipped for it. I'm playing on PS5 and it would seem nothing helps the crashes. I tried to reinstall the game, I tried power cycling many times, I even tried rebuilding the database and selling / dismantling MUCH of the collected items on my character just to see if it would help and I still get many crashes in places like Japantown or near V's apartment building. Markets with high density content like NPCs, stalls, smoke and other effects bog the game down so that it chugs and eventually crashes. This seems to happen MORE when you enter these areas very quickly by either sprinting or driving near them.

I've given this game more of my time than I think most who have already deemed it a failure and have abandoned ship. I am thoroughly enjoying it, but I feel like you are punished for playing it longer than other people. I am fearful that the game was only released with the intention of satisfying casuals or game reviewers who would attempt to finish the game as quickly as possible so that they would not notice the flaws longevity presents.

110 hours of gameplay on pc and had only 1 crash, and i dont have a high end setup. Thats why its weird for me reading ppl keep crashing on pc cause i have 0 issues with the game, exept some glitches... u might wanna update all of your drivers or something

Hotfix 1.06 is available on PC and consoles! Here is the full list of changes:

Quests
  • Dum Dum will no longer go missing from Totentanz entrance during Second Conflict.
Console-specific
  • Improved memory management and stability, resulting in fewer crashes.
PC-specific
  • Removed the 8 MB save file size limit. Note: this won’t fix save files corrupted before the update.
Dum Dum is still missing from the Totentanz entrance during Second Conflict mission for me.

Thank You for the hotfix!

on pc, if you use steam I do know that it is downloaded when you open steam, go to the game itself in your library, then you will notice there is an update. let it update (it takes a bit) then after it is done, launch the game and whala, you are good to go.

as far as the other launchers, I am unsure.

Weird. I am similar as you, also play on PS5. I am far from 120h but I am over ~33-35h and nothing like that happens. The crashes occurs randomly but after 1.06, it's pretty rare. I don't often play more than 3-4h and I can play this amount of time without a single crash or get 1 crash, very rarely more than 1 per 2-3 hours. Used to crash more often before, not in 1.06 anymore, not as far as I've played the current version. And I explore and drive around the city a lot and I loot everything but I also dismantle (including auto dismantle perk) and sell stuff. I don't see the reason to keep your stash on purpose, not to mention carrying capacity is not worth it but I guess you can always use home storage or car etc. Most of it is trash after ~20-25h of playtime, only to sell or dismantle. I don't keep anything below rare right now. And most things I get are uncommon or common, those are trash at this stage. But I've seen the save size file limitation got fixed (not sure if PS5 had that issue or only PC). Also what you experience is not a save file issue, it's memory management and stability in general, possibly leaking mem, when you get to demanding parts of the city, it speeds things up and you get crash in the end. They've improved that a lot, at least for me. But few seconds, sometimes minutes before the crash, the game already has quick fps spikes. That's already a sign it's about to crash. But I guess it is what it is, games run differently for people. All I feel is constant progress with the game quality one patch after another.

I am like you, I am wanting to stay on my first playthrough, and still am, with alot of hours into it.

Maybe what you wrote will be read by more than just me and they will fix the PS5 crash issue with that (which im sure they will in time) also maybe they will see that people want to stick around in this futuristic world and not just play though. Nice post by the way, glad to see im not the only one living in night city and treating it like an rpg.

PC user here, is it normal that it takes ages for GOG to download and install the patch? I mean it is only 500mbs but it literally takes hours for completion. The download is okay but now it says patches are executed, it got stuck around 92% so I had to restart now at 57%. Also, I can't play the game while it loads because then it is even more buggy.

Yes, this happens sometimes. You just need to give it some time to DL and install properly.

thanks, but why is it so slow? Can I speed it up somehow? And does the execution of patches still require an internet connectionß

No, there's no way to speed it up, you just need to wait. And yeah, I would leave the connection on for the whole process of patching.

Gregski is correct on this and confirmed that on steam as well, after it is downloaded it will sit in the 95% - 100% installed area, but it is just the program unpackaging files and the removing temp files and cleaning up the hot fix which will then tidy up the program to be launchable without a reboot.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANSWERING. But Im still not there... i indeed bought cyberpunk from steam. But I only had to update the game once or twice when wanting to play the game, nothing from steam itself.... perhaps it already updated in when wanting to run the game itself? Is there a way to test which version of the game you currently have?

LOVE THE GAME. Good thing I happened to get the Ryzen 3800 XT and a Radeon RX 5700 XT for Christmas. Not a single glitch.

On PC. Game was pretty solid up thru 1.05. Really enjoying it. But with 1.06, feels like I get crashes every 5 to 20 minutes. Got a crash every 3-5 minutes when I entered a clothing shop, with the shopping menu pulled up. Stopped trying to shop there (and anywhere else) after several times trying. Did a few Badlands missions, figured less people and buildings might help, saving often just in case, and having the occasional issue, and then, riding a bike in the desert, same thing started happening again. Made it to the next mission once, but it didn't autosave, then the game started crashing out again every 5 minutes as I tried to drive back. Unplayable at that point. So giving it rest for now. Waiting for 1.07
