Sharing links for new players and GM's

Hi folks,

Been noticing more and more folks stopping by asking about Cyberpunk 2020 and so I figured I would help out some of the new players and GM’s with links I have used.

Long story made short … I have been playing off and on since about 2 years since original release of V1 and during that time I’ve come up with a lot of stuff for the game. To make things easy I have listed the stuff that is still working online from other folks with a short description of what it does. Keep in mind these definitely were not made by me, just stuff I have found.

Also, in the link directly below I have a youtube.com video which shows the best tool I have ever found for gaming in general. It’s called The Keep and if you watch the video please keep in mind that I recorded it quite a while ago. Since I made the video they have come out with a 1.10d version which is very stable and quite easy to use.

I hope that my links help you all out, if you have any questions please let me know. Also, sorry about these not being categorized or anything. I got rushed with family stuff and just wanted to get it out for everyone.

SciFi Name Generator (Cyberpunk specific option)
http://donjon.bin.sh/scifi/name/#cyberpunk
Pretty nice generator. I use it all the time for naming npc's when I'm tired of thinking up stuff on my own after a hard day.

Behind the name (generator)
http://www.behindthename.com/random/
Another name generator that is really nice. While this one doesn't have a cyberpunk option it does give you the choice of what countries you would like your name to be generated from. So if you have an icelandic/american character it can be a really nice tool.

Lifepath Generator #1
https://krischel.org/lifepath.cgi
Not a bad one by any means. Only thing I personally don't like about it is the lack of options like choosing your own age.

Lifepath Generator #2 and Fast and Dirty Expendables
http://www.moosh.net/cp2020/
This lifepath generator is by all means my favorite as you have options on the things you should be able to control. The Fast and Dirty Expendables is a GM tool for creating on the fly NPC's with a little more gusto. Both are VERY good tools.

Lifepath Generator #3
http://www.mieow.co.uk/cyberpunk
Overall not bad but I prefer online tools. For this one you have to download and run it from your computer and my tablet won't allow that.

Dice Roller
http://www.catchyourhare.com/diceroller/
This dice roller is designed to be for groups gaming over the internet. Very useful if you have players who aren't local. You can add a label to your rolls, make them certain colors and even apply a password so everyone using the same password can see your rolls. Great for keeping players honest when gaming over Ventrilo.

Drug Designer
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/druglab.html
If you like to make drugs in your cp2020 game this is a very useful tool so you can determine effects and difficulties.

Corporation Name Generator
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=corporationname

Cyberpunk Job Generator
http://donjon.bin.sh/scifi/random/#cyberpunk_job
I absolutely LOVE this generator. Really helps on those days we just throw a group together and they want the first job available from the first friendly fixer they find. Definitely a must use.

Cyberpunk NPC Generator
http://donjon.bin.sh/scifi/random/#cyberpunk_npc
Same site as the job generator but this gives you a basic overview of an npc. It's not that detailed but, again if you need something on the fly, it's a great resource to have.

Settlement Generator
http://www.junkyardintranet.com/index.php?page=newsettlement
Used primarily for determining a rough feel for a town in a post apocalyptic setting. I use the fear level, supplies, military, law and places of interest. Predators seem to be WAAAYY off though. On one I rolled up it said kansas had crocodile, alligator, wolf, mountain lion and elephant. I'm pretty damn sure I ain't seen a one of those except in a zoo.

Junk Finder
http://www.junkyardintranet.com/index.php?page=ranjunk
Great tool that you can use in any situation. Players just bust into a house and you need a whole bunch of random crap for them to sift through? This is your baby. Also great for post apocalyptic because there are loads of meaningless junk in real life that can be repurposed and used in different ways.

Disease Generator
http://www.chaoticshiny.com/diseasegen.php
Just what it sounds like. Good tool if you have crazy ass cyber/bio researchers in your games sometimes like I do.

Level/Floor Generator
http://donjon.bin.sh/d20/dungeon/
While this was originall made to be a random dungeon generator it can easily be made to generate a floor plan like you would find in an officer or apartment. Make sure you switch the following options. Dungeon size (size you need), room layout (dense), Room Size (size you need) and corridors (straight). This usually makes a great officer floor layout for me. Feel free to experiment.

Bar/Tavern Generator
http://inkwellideas.com/roleplaying_tools/random_inn/
Pretty good bar/tavern generator. For those bars with rentable rooms (by hour or whatever) those will show up on levels 2.

Medication Tablet Generator
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=medication
This generator is kind of periphrial but in my games I like to make my players guess or research what things are. I use the description of the medicine as a guideline plus almost every pill has a personal symbol from the drugmaker to identify who it was made by. So the players find 3 red pills from 3 different drug makers ... each one will have their own power/strength, duration and side effects. Sure the effects usually won't vary much but intelligent players aren't going to spend top dollar for something they know is low grade quality. Stupid addicted characters will do almost anything to score a hit when the shakes hit and the penalties and side effects start though.

Building and NPC Generator
http://www.fatesworsethandeath.com/!FWTD/block1b.htm
Ok, first thing to keep in mind is that the generators here (3 of em) were made for the game Fates worse than death. It's kinda punkish but different. Anyways, I wouldn't use the first link which is the block designer. There is a block designer I will link to below that is better. The 2nd generator is a building generator but goes a step above others because while it doesn't show a building layout (it's all text), it does generate the people to fill the building. So characters decide to walk in an abandoned building, no sweat. Just choose the options and hit generate. You do have to come up with your own stats/skills/etc (see Fast and Dirty Expendables for that) but this gives you the npc's thinking, likes/dislikes, and other details that really flesh out the npc's. The NPC generator does generate the same information but only one at a time instead of a whole bunch for a building. Nice for when you are getting mugged by someone and the GM needs to play the NPC realistically.

Block Builder
http://laurelcadre.org/cp_block/
Now this is the tool to create a block layout. I'm using it on a city I am designing and it is really helpful. Not so much use in a night city environment but pretty good if you are set in another city and don't have a map of what the area looks like.

Humanity Test
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/ht.html
Basically a test to see how cyberpunk you are. Gotta try it at least once. 

What kind of Edgerunner are you Test.
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/cpquiz/
Kinda like the humanity test but this one is checking which role would fit you best.

Cost of living Calculator
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/costofliving.html
Great for figuring out how much money players should be spending for the basics every month. Doesn’t include all expenses but definitely gives you a leg up on gm’ing real life.

Programming 101
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/program101.html
Like netrunning and making your own software? This will help you figure up difficulty rolls, cost of software and time needed to make your progs.

Friday Night Fire Fight (FNFF)
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/fnff.html
Basically it’s a combat simulation helper for a GM. Must have tool.

Dataterm Data Lookup Generator
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/dataterm.html
Ever wanted to look up hard to find info on a dataterm? This will help you with your rolls.

Handgun Creator
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/flipper_is_dead_handgun_creation.html

Rifle Creator
http://www.paper-dragon.com/cyberpunk/rns/tools/flipper_is_dead_rifle_creation.html

The DonJon name generator is a bit 'odd', you end up with repetative 'oddball' names like "Nolan Nylund", but it is usable. The Firefly names on it are pretty good, especially if you are planning on basing the game in one of the southern states, such as Texas.

The handgun and rifle creators are bugged and have been for a long while.

Otherwise, good list.
