The game continues to surprise me

Doing a NG+ replay, I came across a previously undiscovered bandit camp. Drew my sword, applied hanged man's venom and cautiously approached to find... nothing but a few corpses and a chest to loot.
I don't recall coming across such an instance in my first playthru', all bandit camps I encountered (and I think I cleared them all) had bandits all going agro on me.

There is at least one bandit camp that often gets wiped out by passing Nilfgaardian soldiers.
Sometimes you can even spot the battle going on.

I've also found a camp which had been cleared by a gang of drowners.
