How to get your first Witcher 3 adventure to last longer.

Sometimes you can become so hooked that you just want to hurry onto the next thing and get more of the story.
But I think most would agree that the journey matters the most and not the end of a story, right.

So what kind of "rules" or guidelines can you set up for yourself to get the adventure to last longer?

My thoughts

  • Live the adventure and explore.
  • Never allow yourself to use fast travel. Travel only by foot, horse or boat.
  • Don't let yourself get stuck on the main story, take the time to care about the helpless people and get drunk, kill monsters.
  • Play the game on the "Death March!" difficulty level (most difficult level without save being erased by death).
‘Monster behavior and tactics change depending on the time of day or terrain, it's these shifting circumstances that determines if you're hunter or prey.’

  • Prepare more with what the world has to offer, use your instinct and don't let yourself go in without a plan or tactic.

Just something I really must mention about not using fast travel:
  • You will never see a loading screen when playing Geralt.
  • The world will seem great all the time and distance from location to location will seem real (or actually be real).

PS:
Poll related;
‘My adventurous heart and explore’ means you do what you want but the main story does not come first.

I don't really have any set rules, but I do have the beginnings of my own personal Witcher's Creed:

1: Help comes free, hunting does not. By which I mean, if someone is being attacked by a monster for example, I will help them with no thought of reward. If they want me to HUNT the monster after they are safe, they gots to pay.

...That''s as far as I got TBH.

As I already mentioned in another thread I don't make "rules" for any game before starting it. So I can't really say how I will be playing for sure as it is subject to change during the game. However if how I normally play RPGs is anything to go by it will be like a completionist. In other words doing anything possible without fast travel so that's what I voted

im gonna treat this game just like any open world game -
im gonna follow the main quest litely. i will do a lot of side quests so the main story will take long. i dont like rushing games. i like taking my time. so i do a main quest mission or a couple and then some side stuff and then some more main quest etc.

About fast travel -
if the game allows interesting things to happen while free roaming (I.E - random combat and encounters and random events) than i will free roam a lot and use fast travel mainly if i have little time to play or if i need to get really really far from where i am (and even then i will FT to some distance from where im going and then walk the rest of the way to allow these 'random stuff' to happen).

If roaming the land on foot\horseback is uneventful and boring than after i see all i have to see than i will fast travel a lot more.
in GTAV there are barely any interesting things that can happen if you are not on a mission. i dont like this. so i am using taxis a lot since all i will be missing is seeing the city. while it IS a gorgeous life like city - i am usually eager to do some action and knowing that no action will come if i just drive to where i need to go than it's a tad boring.

in skyrim once i installed a mod that spawns groups of enemies in the wilderness than i knew that fun surprises can occur anywhere and i usually didnt FT. i loved finding travelers or groups of bandits, trolls or mages in the open world and then decide if to risk it and engage them or let them be. since it seems like the wilderness in TW3 WILL indeed be populated by organic life than i guess i will be using FT pretty little.

I will rarely use Fast Travel..I will go off the beaten path every chance I get. I hope I won't screw up any timed quests and we will get some indication or timer to them.

You are going to play from start to finsh in one sitting  WOW you go J/K
I bought 40 cans of coke and viagra. I'm ready.

Just kidding.
But they said in an interview that there is no loading screen when playing, except for when you fast travel.
I've played Skyrim without using fast travel.
It was totally worth it, keeping the feel of the world that I got from not using fast travel at all.
And I think it will be even more amazing in the Witcher 3 because you know.. you've seen the videos.

As more such games you enjoy,is exploring, the main missions and secondary, ect ... I will use fast travel because it can be a bit tedious to go from one place to another quite this far.

Are there really people who will do just the story missions? After complained that the game is not as long as I said CDP ...................... Well each to play as you want.
