1.2 Quest "Sweet Dreams" Bug

+
PC, Steam, 1.2 Version.
Hello, after today's patch I got a bug, where long time ago finished quest "Sweet Dreams" pop up and ask me to go to Stefan (I finished that quest by taking my money back), when I come to him, nothing happens, he just stands there.
(As a side note) This bug happens with every abstract painting which has this pattern (screenshots), you can't pick them up even after today's patch at every place where they appear.

Great! Being able to identify that it was that, particular asset causing the issue should be really helpful. (I'm going to bet the the two are linked.) Can you send this in to CDPR Support?

Just head to the end of the Gameplay FAQ section, and hit the "Contact us" button.

(Just double-checking: are you using any mods, or have you ever used any in the past?)

Okay, I send a ticket.

I'm still having issues where Stefan is at his location but it wont allow me to talk with him or do the mission.

This is the only mission I have left and I have put 200+ hours into this game. Can someone please fix this for the next patch? I was hoping 1.3 would.....

Already sounds like a bug. Sometimes, they linger...or come back...or take on new forms...

Just be sure to select the correct platform when submitting a ticket. A brief message of the steps taken to repeat the bug, if possible. Vice versa, if something like quick-loading or restarting the game fixes it, mention that. As always, any pattern that you can detect.

I am playing on a PS5 with Patch 1.3. Stefan is not in his location anymore now. He was there but I am still not able to speak with him. Can you please fix this or create a way to reset the mission for us on the next patch?!?!?!? This is driving me o_O

Just a heads up that if you're looking for official help, be sure you update to 1.31 first.

As for unofficial help, the first thing to try if encountering a quest bug like this is to verify/repair the game through GOG / Steam / Epic / etc.

Second thing is to reload the game to a point before that mission appears in your journal and try again.

The problem with this quest is not that you can't complete it. I completed it, but after 1.2 it appeared again, as if I haven't. So it didn't progress, and obviously I don't have saves where I completed it for the first time. I fixed it with mod.

Curious issue to have -- were you using any mods before?

Cyber Engine Tweaks, but this happened right when I opened the game after 1.2 update, so it has to do something with it. The same happened to another quest after 1.3 and got fixed in 1.3.1 but “Sweet Dreams” still stays bugged.

Lols -- I seem to be having the same conversation in a few different places at once. :D

Mods are not guaranteed to work with new versions of the game. It very often requires mod authors to update their mods so that they work correctly with the new game functionality. This is especially common with more complex mods, because authors normally don't have an understanding of how things work internally -- they simply work around things in their own way to get the effect they want. This is also why some mods don't work correctly with other mods.

Also, removing mods will not necessarily affect an issue that has already been introduced by a mod conflict. Whenever you save your game with mods running, it will create reference data in that game's save state that cannot be removed. Removing mods or updating the game itself with mods running is often the cause of this sort of issue. The only way to 100% rectify those types problems is to reinstall and start a new playthrough with no mods.

But, all is not necessarily lost. I'd simply restore to a point before that quest appeared in my journal, then wait for the mod to be updated, and try again from there. It definitely sounds as if something in the mod created a conflict with the 1.2 update.

Hy playing on PS5 and not using any mods Problem still there please help!
Well, definitely no issue for mods here. You can stop uninstalling/reinstalling -- if that doesn't work the 1st time, it's definitely not going to work the 5th time. That means the installation is likely perfectly fine.

That confirms it's likely a bug within the actual game itself. This, I'd report to CDPR Tech Support for Playstation:

Please, read the appropriate FAQ section to the end, ensuring all suggestions have been followed. If the problems persist, you can use the "Contact Us" link to send in a ticket.

Be sure to include your system (including specs if on PC), a brief description of the issue, and the steps taken to reproduce it (if applicable).

I'd also include a saved game, if possible.

@Farbros9 , you can definitely report it on the PC end, but there's often not much that Tech Support can do with a save file from a modded game. The Playstation occurance means it can happen in vanilla, though, so it's probably worth reporting.

There is no problem at all, I used a mod, which finishes quests, to fix that, so now everything if fine.

Fair enough, but feel free to report the issue, anyway. In order to try to update official fixes, the devs need to be able to track it down themselves. (It's great that a mod may correct things like this, but that solution may still create other issues with the game. Many mods are fantastic solutions. Many mods break a lot of things that some players may never encounter or notice.)

I already reported that issue, before 1.2 came out, but it wasn't fixed with this patch, so I used mod. So developers have my report even with save file (if I remember right) according this issue.
